I'm pretty sure my PC will still be able to run it when released in 10 years.

^ I'm pretty sure I won't want to run it whenever it's released.

Getting DNF out of the way and then making use of the IP (which probably didn't cost much in the end) was always the idea. If they make something fun and innovative along the lines of the original D3D, it should do well.

    +1

Lets face it after 10 years only to be greeted with what was DNF theres little in the way of PR that could be said to make ANYONE EVER be excited about a new game. Do it right this time

Would I be right in thinkingthat Duke Nukem Forever wasn't particularly good then?

DNF was perfectly fine. It suffered though from a decade's worth of innovations crammed into a single game, both in gameplay design and engine build.

It was also far more crass than it needed to be, put the second by second gameplay was fine. For £15-£20, definitely worth a bash.

Personally I welcome this news. Duke is a fantastic franchise and has plenty of legs in it (if it isn't being created by a team as poorly managed as 3D Realms was).

the problem with forever was that they took over an incomplete game from someone else and instead of starting over they just modified what was there, so gearbox improved and fixed what was there. Of course what was there wasnt good so all we got was an average shooter out of it.

I imagine all the DLC will be nothing but a load of MMO crap.
Poor old Duke just didn't age well at all. They should put the senile old pervert out of our misery and just let him die with what little dignity he has left. He fought the future fight and it pwned him. :sigh:

DNF just suffered from an old engine with so many addons to keep it up to date with modern shooters. Hence it was clunky and not very efficient.

Lets just hope they either create a whole new engine or use a more dynamic one for the next game. The latter is probably more likely otherwise it will take another 14 years to develop!!

Personally I want to see a modern Duke game!

They need to sit down, create a new engine or use an existing quality engine, and remake DN3D from the ground up then release that.
It will give then an idea of what they need to bring to fruition, then they can start working on a new DN game with NO health Regen and NO weapon limit and NO vehicles and NO turret BS and NO linear pathing
