The reviewers are under NDA so they won't say, but I've heard that the NDA expires on the 15th, so that would be a good bet.

15th was just the original NDA for 280X etc. that got moved to the 8th :p As of yet we don't have one for 290 series.

Fixed. It's been a long few days...

The overclock is admittedly marginal, but there's a decent amount of extra headroom for more, especially on the memory chips, indeed it's something of a shame MSI hasn't "overclcoked" the memory by default.

So would if be worth upgrading to one of these from a 7870 or better to buy a 7970 while their cheap?

In my mind there is no point paying more money for what is effectively the same card. I think we'll see some 7970 discounts as retailers clear their stocks so get one of those.

If you are planning on buying a 7970 you may want to think about making it quick, according to rumor...

I'm waiting for the 290. Saving up now as I will get one the end of the month. Can't wait to see a proper review on that one

Hey, are we going to see a review for the Sapphire R9 280X Toxic? Or you do not want a humble AMD exchange blows with the GTX780 at half the price as it seems from other reviews?

Got a link to such a review ? as the only ones i have seen are comparing it to a GTX 770, not the 780.

But at the end of this first review you link to it says...
And at the end of the next link...
    It says...
That its a bargain, is something i can agree on :baby: but trying to compare a highly overclocked card with a stock card is a bit of a stretch, you are tying to compare apples with pears.

The card is sold as is. And AS IS = beats the GTX780.

The card being sold is highly overclocked, and even then it doesn't beat a stock clocked 780 in some benchmarks.

Get another GTX580 from E-Bay and go SLI. I have two overclocked to 910ghz and they fly. Been playing BF4 at 80 to 100 fps at 1080p on full Ultra. Nvidia sli scales well and I very rarely get any micro-stutter. The R9 290x is a great card but too expensive. Only worth considering if you are playing at higher resolutions.

That is true, but it is very close to a stock GTX 780 at about 55% of the price. Those extra few fps from the GTX 780 cost c£240 which is simply not worth it. Notwithstanding this it is good to see the video card market hotting up after a rather stale period. Nvidia has more in the pipeline and what it means for us all is that we will get more for our money as the competition increases.
