Isn't windows10 already classified as a cloud app? Based on the amount of spying it does of course.

Also, should you not say 'competing malware' instead of simply 'malware'?

If you remove the benefit of Windows from Windows does it gain more than 0.1% market share?

    Based on Windows RT, no.

Situation may be sliiightly different here though: you can have a UWP-only x86 platform that can still run Win32-developed programs once they're packaged and signed as UWP, while WinRT was stuck in the ARM ghetto. Kind of an on-steroids version of the lockdown that enterprise systems enforce, only out of the box rather than requiring copious tweaking and configuration. I could see these being very attractive as 'approved BYOD' products for enterprise use, provided said enterprise was willing to do the UWP-repackaging dance.

This. Even if Cloudy Windows is only on chromebook-ish hardware like those HP Stream laptops i envisage it dying the same death RT did.

Wonder if you'll be able to upgrade Cloudy Windows to non-Cloudy Windows [hardware permitting].

    Excellent point Anfield.

But maybe it'll run all the stuff that they forced to be cloud-based these days exclusively, like the Adobe stuff. And even many games. (and Razer drivers...)
