Hi people, am rather fed up now at getting my i7 920 stable at 4ghz so if anyone can help it would be much appreciated! Machine spec: i7 920 D0 stepping Asus P6T Deluxe V2 with 0504 bios OCZ Reaper 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C7 (1600MHz) Corsair TX650 PSU Its also water cooled in a Antec 902 case so plenty of airflow and temps are nice and low IE CPU gets to around 68ish on full load @ 4ghz its just trying to keep it at 4ghz thats a pain! Heres how far I got creeping up through the voltages etc in the Bios, its got a bit better but still locks up while stressing under LinX! CPU Ratio = 20 BCLK Freq = 200 PCIE Freq = 100 DRAM Freq = 1603 VCLK Freq = Auto QPI Link Data Rate = Auto Mem timings manually set to 8-8-8-24 even though they are rated at 7-7-7-24 CPU Voltage = 1.35000 CPU PLL Voltage = 1.88 QPI/DRAM = 1.37500 IOH Voltage = 1.2 IOH PCIE Voltage = Auto ICH Voltage = 1.2 ICH PCIE Voltage = Auto DRAM Bus Voltage = 1.64 Load Line Calibration = Enabled Speedstep = Disabled C-State = Disabled Everything else is set to Auto I have played with everything else on lower settings in different combos but no matter what I try after anywhere between 5 and 30 mins the PC will lock up/freeze (no rebooting and no BSODs) Its being stressed under Vista x64 & LinX 0.6.2 Fed up now so hoping someone will have an idea what to try next, I am a bit loathed to go over 1.35000 on the CPU V core though.... So yeah, err help! lol
Really? Thought LLC was a good thing to have on to help stop voltage drop? Its on water mate Swiftech Apogee GT water block
Try this: CPU Ratio = 21 BCLK Freq = 191 PCIE Freq = 100 DRAM Freq = 1531 VCLK Freq = Auto QPI Link Data Rate = Auto Mem timings are 9-9-9-24 on mine CPU Voltage = 1.35000 CPU PLL Voltage = 1.88 QPI/DRAM = 1.375 IOH Voltage = 1.2 IOH PCIE Voltage = Auto ICH Voltage = 1.2 ICH PCIE Voltage = Auto DRAM Bus Voltage = 1.66 Load Line Calibration = Disabled ths is what i've got running or you could try 19x 210 but that lowers ram
You want my settings mate?? Cpuv 1.2975 (the last yellow one) - shows as 1.288 under cpu-z when under load. Pll 1.84 (still blue) QPI 1.35 (first pink I believe) Ioh 1.2 ioh pcie auto ich 1.2 ich pcid auto Dram 1.64 Loadlinecab disabled. speed step disabled (which in turn disables turbo) CPU Ratio = 21 BCLK Freq = 207 PCIE Freq = 101 ***IMPORTANT FOR MULTI-GPU STABILITY (includes 295)*** DRAM Freq = 1656 (cl 6-7-6-20) ***your memory will probably need 8/9-8/9-9-24 to ensure stability at 1656. VCLK Freq = 3200 (or as close to) QPI Link Data Rate = 7200/7.2 (or as close to) Then all you need to do is knock back the base clock until you get to your 4ghz (if you really need 4ghz only). I have that running stable 24/7 with 12gb of ram and 2x gtx295 + gtx285 on the p6t dv2. Andy
here are mine: speedstep enabled turbo off BCLK: 200 DRAM: 1603Mhz CPU voltage: 1.31250 CPU PLL: 1.90 QPI/DRAM Core voltage: 1.3 DRAM bus voltage 1.64 LLC disabled. everything else is auto. i just completed 30mins under LinX (wouldv done more but want to have a blast of borderlands). of course, surely it depends on the chips themselves? this is why the guy above needed only 1.29v, and some need 1.35v. this is all under air btw, temp maxes out at 73 in one core (rest are 68-72)
Why important? Hi, Was wondering why 101 on the pci-e freq is important for multigpu stability? Thanks.
Its not important with all motherboards, just a few of the x58 boards have an issue where adding that extra 1mhz to the pci-e frequency stablizes things massively. Andy
Thats ideally how I would like to run mine, I had identical settings to this but with LLC left on, might have another play with it another time but for now its happily running at 4ghz at the moment with below settings its just I was trying to avoid using the 21 turbo multiplier. CPU Ratio = 21 BCLK Freq = 191 PCIE Freq = 100 DRAM Freq = 1530 VCLK Freq = Auto QPI Link Data Rate = Auto CPU Voltage = 1.32500 CPU PLL Voltage = 1.88 QPI/DRAM = 1.32500 DRAM Bus Voltage = 1.64 Load Line Calibration = Enabled Ah well its been running at 100% load now (Folding) for 48hrs without a crash and has not gone above 65 degrees on water Thanks for everyones configs, has been helpful, a shame I cant seem to get it stable with 20x200 but then I didnt turn off LLC etc so will continue playing with settings next week. If anyone else has any ideas or wants to paste in their settings feel free
