meh. this set of speakers reminds me of an old £35 creative 5.1 surroundsound speaker set i used to own. looks exactly the same aside from being 2.1 and maybe the sub a little bigger

Budget speakers such as these never got me excited. And I don't think this'll ever change.

Most people seem to be tone deaf: as long as there is enough bass, it "sounds good".
They will happily buy the cheapest of those creaking cans while spending hundreds of bucks every graphics card generation.
Meanwhile a good speaker&amp combo will outlast everything else in their rigs.
    Meh.

They were not too prone to falling over. The speakers remained perfectly upright 24 out of 30 times! *sarcasm*

Yikes, good spot. That was obviously meant to be Value 24/30.

    Fixed now.

Agreed with prev comment. I want to find soemthing to compete with my 5.1 Z5500's without going to professional audio

    1. Get a random 5.1 amp
    2. Some random speakers
    3. ???
    4. Speaker system that beats the living hell out of the Z5500

I have no idea what to look for in a 5.1 amp lol.

I also have no idea what to look for in decent speakers...

The Z500's save me this hassle ^^ But dont know any others like it.

Supposedly Teufel is very good. Take a look at their 5.1 range.

Most people aren't audio connoisseurs. I can appreciate a good setup unlike most but I still only need a good headset and my speakers should be good value as I don't use them enough to warrant a serious audiophile setup.

My 5.1 setup is a used Yamaha amp I bought for 70£, my front speakers are some JBL I bought for 80£ and the rest of the speakers are some old Logitech speakers I had lying around. Total cost? Some 200£ if you include the cost of the Logitech speakers.

You don't have to look for anything special in 5.1 amps. If you go for a decent brand like Yamaha, and make sure it has the connectors you want, then you're pretty much set.

Has nobody noticed that the link to the manufacturers website takes you to Antec not Altec Lansing?

I have the Teufel Motiv 5 set (Creative G500s died on me, common power relay problem I didn't have the time/skill to fix).

They do sound pretty good, and Teufel have been fantastic in their customer support, but I don't think they're as good as my G500s were.

whilst in many cases I'd agree with Picarro's view

in this case the price performance ratio gets the vote...

    LOL!

they must have written this while reviewing another set of energy drinks... btw, when are we going to have a "review" of Absolut Vodka flavours? I'd like to know the opinion of the """"experts""""...
