No-one here is a doctor so I suggest you go and see one if you're concerned. However all drugs have side effects, and I'd expect something odd might happen if you're messing with neurotransmitters.

im on amitryptiline and it knocks me out if im actually in bed
sounds silly, but, if im at my pc, ill just stay awake. take it and then hit the sack straight away. also dosage matters too. im on it because of migraines

if my brother see's this (he IS a doctor!) then he'll probably be able to give you a more educated answer!

Amitryptiline is a tricycilate anti-depressent which is also sometimes prescribed as a sedative, amongst other off-label uses. For that use it shold be taken close to bedtime as it tends to work quickly, reaching a peak concentration in the blood within about 2 hours. Don't take it with alcohol and you may feel dizzy when standing up as it tends to affect vasculature. May turn your piss blue-green.

I take it (just 25mg) and it really doesn't put me to sleep. It was prescribed for pain/insomnia. Not sure I'd notice any difference if I stopped taking it.

    Side effects

Common side effects of using amitriptyline are dry mouth, extreme weight gain, drowsiness, nervousness, dizziness, blurred vision and insomnia. Some rare side effects include tinnitus, hypotension, mania, psychosis, anticholinergic effects, heart block, arrhythmias, extrapyramidal symptoms, depression, and hepatic toxicity.

    sounds like fun

I just lie down in bed and start coming up with my great life inventions and ideas, thinking how to accomplish them. Usually at the point where I'm thinking how to fix education system in US my brain shuts off and I'm deep in my sleep.

If you are having side-effects from your drugs then the person to talk to is your doctor. The forums are not a replacement for that and never will be. As such, I'm going to close this thread before it goes off-topic and you start getting bad advice.

If the drugs don't work then talk to a professional and work with them to find a solution which is good for you.

Nexxo comes here as a moderator and PC enthusiast, not a doctor or an analyst. The community should not expect him to give medical or psychological advice and the rest of the Bit-tech team has made it clear to him that he doesn't have to. He'd be the first person to say that medical advice from over the internet is often unhelpful and potentially dangerous.

    Mind the doors.
