im working on my case build, and am waiting for Bulldozer gen2 [Q1 2012] so i was wondering if anyone here had any news on if there are plans to have an AMD based board that will support PCI-e gen3 out by then? preferably an ROG? if there arent or there isnt any news by xmas, then ill just go back to the crosshair v formula, and some gtx590s....... i dont want to be spending upwards of $1600 USD on technology thats about to be shadowed. thats a lot of money for something that will no longer be the best you know.... any word at all? thnx
990FX doesn't support it so no, not until 2012 sorry. Using PCI-E Gen3 switches doesn't count as PCI-E 3 ROG's board for this year is the Crosshair 5 Formula. We're evaluating a special Bulldozer UEFI right now, that will be ready on the CPU release.
Thats what I thought...the PCIE 2 standard is still to be staurated...so why bother with 3? I think people like the baord to be all "3"...sata 3, usb 3 and pcie 3....great for the marketing department.
