I highly disagree, the chat was full of talk about the game nothing too do woth wow at all, I played the full beta. its not trying to be wow. its not trying to be cartoony like wow. wow = kids.. aion has a much more mature feel to it, that's why i will never play wow. you say flawed I dont think i came across a single bug, the game ran smothly. plenty of deatail. being a FPS person I have alwasy hated mmorpg and have tried many free toplay and micropayment ones and I hated them all. I thought i would hate aion but for teh 1st time ever I really enjoyed a mmo..
Looking forward to the early access on Sunday, but after reading that over 400,000 have pre-ordered and will be in early access I am having doubts. I don't want it to end up like Age of Conan's early access with half of the servers down and or full because of too many people. With that kind of pre-order number the early access might as well be the official release.
You have to differentiate between pre-ordering the game, and pre-ordering the more expensive Collectors Edition. The CE has early access; the other does not.
Yeah, i thought only the CE was early access as well. But according to Kotaku, NCSoft stated that Aion has over 400,000 pre-orders ready for early access. I don't know, I just hope that any people getting in early doesn't kill the early access program. So far it looks like the NA Aion will be packed in early access. The Pre-Select alone was a nightmare. By the time I got home from work only 1 East Coast server was allowing Asmodians. All others were either Elyos, and by the end the day were complete locked out for any additional characters. By Midnight most of the West Coast servers were completely locked. I think only 1 East Coast was allowing Elyos, 1 West Coast server allowing both, 1 West Coast was allowing Asmodian. Everything else was completely locked.
created my character on Saturday night on one server but when it came to early access yesterday not all of my friends could not get on the same server even though we all had made characters. after playing for a bit on diff server we logged off and we are now using Telemachus server as our main one. so if any one else is on there and have chosen Asmodian I will be on nightly from 8ish on wards we will be starting a legion tomorrow. Littletron is my gaming name.
Tried to play last night and there was a queue of 1300 to get onto Castor. The missus and I got on just fine after a small wait (about 15 mins) and it all went rather well from there. Hopefully queues don't become a massive issue as it will kill it either via the company opening too many extra servers and as such loosing money or people will bugger off to something else because they can't play because of queues!
Telemachus Server: Queue was 9mins - 170 people, not so bad, Just cooked some dinner whilst waiting. Once in, No lag, The areas aren't too busy. My friend and I managed to get through all the quests starting zone up till the end areas and hit level 8 in just over 2hrs played time. All in all a good first days play time and enjoying being in game. Oh and the pre-order and ce items are kinda handy. The hat rawks.
Starter zones. Quests. Levels. Sigh. Not specifically aimed at Aion but why is it developers are incapable of redesigning the fundamentals? I've been saying this forever: Levels == Grind. Classes == Limits. Instances == Segregation. Quests == Linear. For Christs's sake, think of something new!
Well yeah, but what's the hook to the game if there isn't something to aim for? The highest level is an easy target to create hence nobody has really changed it. I'm all for fun game play being the hook but there still has to be a sense of achievement for all the hours you put in. I know what you are saying though and MMO design in general needs something new. Personally I feel that Aion kind of combines the best of WAR and WoW into one game(PvP from WAR and Questing from WoW) and enjoy it quite a bit for the story line play with the other half.
10 min queue at the moment for me on Israphel. Alot of the negative press around the game in NA concern the Azaphel server which is so heavily populated it's ridiculous. 7hr queues yet folks continue to try and get onto that server instead of rolling on a different one; and then they complain. So far I like the game. I'm only level 14 Ranger but I am enjoying it. The UI of the game is really good IMO. It takes alot of what WoW provided with a 3rd part addon and works it into the basic UI. Quest tracker, coordinate system (and even plots locations in a quest if you ask it too), and the trays. I can't wait to get to the Abyss at level 25 so I can see what the real game looks like.
Maybe people queue because they have their Legion on that server as I do on Spatalos. Anyway the queue issue was massively reduced on my server last night as they let more people in. Had a good night of gaming.
Played Aion in CBT6. Aion is good if you'll going to ask me. But not going to be worth for $15 a month. But if you've got the money to spare every month then go for it. Nothing really special about it for me that been playing MMO's. All the features can be played in any MMO out there. What really shine about this is using crytek engine. Using the same formula of WoW which is proven to be effective from its roots Everyquest and DAoC. But in terms of breakthrough in MMO genre or "key" feature is not there.
this game is next on my shopping list but where's the hcheapest place to get this? i was thinking of steam as i use that alot and its easy but then its £44.99 and thats alot of money. Plus the 8.99 a month. ive had to cancle my eve and wow accounts as they were to expensive... Is this going to be the same....
Less QQ Carebears who run and cry to their mommy when they get smacked by another player. The game is PvPvE, after level 20 nobody holds your hand anymore. As for the realms? Ariel seems fine; no queue; decent ping and I haven't had any problems so far. Looking good. Hopefully I can start hitting Abyss for PvP gear tomorrow.
