    Also from ZDNet this lunhtime:

Apple Computer on Friday issued an update to Mac OS X to address flaws that security firms said could allow malicious code to be run on a Macintosh.

The update fixes a pair of flaws that could be used to create a virus that spreads through a Web link sent via email messages. An attacker also would have to create a Web site with special programming to exploit the vulnerability.

The issue was made public this week, although the person who discovered the problem claims to have notified Apple in February.

Security information service Secunia on Tuesday rated the issue as "extremely critical," because online discussions have pointed out many different ways to exploit the flaws.

Apple took the unusual step of issuing a press release to tout its security update, but a representative refused to answer all questions regarding the issue, including why it has taken since February to get a patch for the software.

    More here

Wow, making the switch is easy - it's just like Windows, even down to the security patching.... :hehe:

no one is perfect so you have to expect that somthing will get missed. I think it just inconsiderate that Apple took so long to anounce the flaw and patch it. at least Micro$oft is honest (about one thing atleast )

Every OS is going to have to be patched... that is just the nature of the coding that is required in a modern OS. That is the same for windows of mac or linux or solaris or OS2 Warp or ....

Apple is doing the right thing by releasing this patch and maybe it took longer to take care of things this time by that is not to put mac in the same region of windows...

(Please no Mac vs Win Here...) :hehe:

...now all apple has to do is make a whole lot more and microsoft can have a patching buddy

Admittedly I am nowhere near an expert on Macs (knowing they look nice is about as far as it gets) but from what I can gather they don't get the hammering that Windows-based PCs get from the virus bods, sure, there aren't as many of them about but the real reason, I think (only an opinion) is that there is no MS Windows on there.

People have always and will always dislike MS because they are an easy target, huge company, gets every were and all that. I am not all "yay, MS" by any means, I admire Bill Gates for what he has managed from what he started with.

Virus writers just take protest and stuff too far sometimes.
