I don't think it deserves a 10, 9 at most from what I've seen so far.

    I just finished it.

I would really only give it an 8/10. About half way through, I became so bored with the game that I just kinda put it off for a few days. The enviroments just seemed to all look the same after awhile. Granted the gardens were different, but not by much. The game needed more moments like the meeting of sander cohen.

I found most of the plasmids to be useless. The only one I really ever used was the basic electricity plasmid.

I wasn't to keen on the fact that the story line was almost optional. You had the choice of listening to the audio diaries, or not. After listening to a few of them, they were just boring and didn't seem to do much in the ways of furthering the plot, which on the broad spectrum, was stupidly predictable if you ask me, with the exception of your "catch phrase", which was genius.

    You don't die, lame.

All in all, if I had to choose between a similar game such as Deus Ex, I would choose Deus Ex, and it's about 7 years old.

I agree with you about the plasmids/tonics, some of them were really useful like the electricity one, but so far the only plasmids I've used are electricity, fire (to melt ice only pretty much) and telekinesis (to grab far away objects). There are a ton of useless tonics too, but some of them are very useful. Similar kind of thing with weapons, most of the time I'm happy with just the wrench as I can kill pretty much everything in one hit with it, only occasionally will I switch to an actual weapon to take down harder enemies, and usually that's just the machine gun. You just can't carry enough ammo IMO, with the pistol, one big firefight and you've run out, it's not that ammo is rare, it's bloody everywhere, but I can't pick it up because of the ammo limits.

Take AP pistol ammo for instance, when you've upgraded the clip size, you can only carry one clips worth of ammo, now I'm not gonna go wasting that on bots or security cameras, meaning the only time I'd use it was against big daddies, but 24 AP pistol shots (even with damage upgraded) does hardly anything to a Big D.

Yup, that seems to be the general feeling :(

I am sure there will be mods aplenty to fix that though :p

yep afraid i gotta settle with 8/10 and all the criticisms that go with it. the plasmids are fun, but do become largely pointless and they make the game too easy. as do the weapons. actually i had a little (BIG) rant about all of this in a thread on another forum. not overhyped tho, this is a stunning game...just a shame its ridonculously easy peasy and therefore so much less scary knowing u can blow everything away.

anyways, forget your morals about harvesting little girls...anyone else here think that taking pictures of little girls for "research" purposes felt a bit wrong!? anyone!?

oh, and yes, highly predictable story line. anyone else think right from the word "go"
why the hell am i doing everything atlas says? not that i didnt like him and his charisma, i loved his character in fact. just a bit obvious.

I use plasmids all the time, i generally hit with a plasmid then hit with the wrench as ammo is very low most of the time, i agree the game is quite dull after a while as its pretty much the same kill, harvest, upgrade, kill. I think my only mistake was playing it on easy.

From the demo, no, I didn't twig it, if I were just taken down into an underwater hell, I'd welcome a friendly voice who was willing to help and guide me through. Unfortunately I stumbled upon some spoilers before I got the game which completely ruined the plot for me :(

So the dummy plasmid is useless? It's the second best one by far to be quite honest, but I think plasmids just add some fun to the game. Not finished it yet but almost, I agree that some points do get boring, like the first 20 minutes of the game sucked, and then half way through the same thing, but so far it is keeping me occupied.

Hell, I'm just waiting for Crysis and STALKER 2. :p

When i said the game will not be a 10 ,but a 8 or max 9 point "scorer" everybody flamed me , called me a Heretic ect. now who's laughing ;p

Game is a complete copy of System Shock 2 , weapon upgrades, plasmids , tonics, "enclosed" area , ring any bells ? System Shock and Deus Ex 1 had it all, the game only deserves a look at it when we grade the storyline the music (great violin sounds ;] ) and thats it. All other things were in last decade Games of The Year.

But then you have to realise that those two games were probably some of the best games ever created, not much up till now has managed to top them really. And if a game is the spiritual sequel to system shock, you'd expect it to be very similar.

sure m8 , "spiritual successor" we can agree to that, but you must agree that the developers from 2K made a big hype about "redefining" the FPS genre, and all they did is they just copied the old games ;]

Look at "Prey" , portal based gameplay, and what the Valve software did ? they will release "Portal" based on a sole idea of that invention. How lame is that ? Yes i know and i realize that in this genre there was almost everything possible, and no new things can be invented ( or am i wrong , i surely hope so) Basically all that current fps game developers do is combine 2 or 3 genres in one game, RPG+FPS+TPP = Hellgate london , Battlefield 2 and 2142 = FPS+RTS (commanders view ;])

It seems to me that some of the original games up today are "Evolva" (somebody remembers that title ;> ? ) and to come "Spore" , I can agree that Bioshock is original for it's whole "scene" made with underwater city, the immersing feel of smoke and water and the very good music (violin crying :] ) made this game a some sort of Art.

But lets make something clear Bioshock is just an FPS , nothing more, it isn't something new as the developers claimed, it does not redefine the FPS Genre with new fresh ideas , they just made a good FPS game, i don't know if they where "afraid" of making something new and fresh-out-of-the-ordinary game , and instead they used old proved to work samples of other games. I think that this game will be very much remembered for some 14-16 year old kids or maybe even younger ;] , the Big Daddy & little sister sinks into memory from the first look, i'm not that young anymore and i tend to approach a game from another side , i tend to look for something new in game industry , copying ideas of other people isn't something new but it sure is not funny when you talk about them as something "breathtaking and revolutionary"

I can only hope that CrySis will be as good as FarCry was to me ( good old FPS shooter with beautifull island to see) .

what i fail to see is that why Crysis is "breathtaking and revolutionary" while Bioshock isn't. both copied similar ideas from older games, and yet, you stepped on Bioshock as though it's a pile of junk.

Bioshock simply ticked all the right boxes, isn't that what gamers what?

Valve actually admitted that they are remaking a mod for the original HL engine for portal. Called "Narbacular Drop"
