im gonna build a new computer soon, and was jsut wonder where you guys put the power inverters for the cold cathodes :/ i have 4 in my case right now, and they jsut sit there on the bottom of the case looking ugly
I've grown fond of gutting and stuffing old CD Roms with electronics I don't need to access often and mounting them in unused drive bays. (of course without allowing the fce to show through the front)
I duct tape mine to the roof of the case Oh and I need to buy some zip ties and zip tie anchors. All the electronic wiring not visible is duct taped to the sides of the case.
Inside the PSU! I have 3 inverters and a 4" ccfl inside my psu. Ofcourse I did cut all those stupid cables out -bliz
Its a good idea unles youve got a cheiftec/antec/whatever then the drive shell has to be fixed with the mounting rails, and you cant cover that witha blanking plate
Bought two cathodes a while back that came with inverter cards. Each one could power two cathodes, and had a sound sensetive mode with a sensetivity dial. Both cathodes arrived snapped in half, and the replacements were standard mitron cathodes. Oh wekk
Mount them in a little transparent box on the bottom of your case, with powerleds attached to them. Should be looking lots, and I mean LOTS nicer
In maplin you can get these little plastic project boxes round about the size of a deck of cards but a little thicker. These are good for hiding 1-3 inverters. They come in many dif sizes.
yer we have those in Australia they are called Jiffy boxes but yer u could fit heaps of them in one of those.. and depending on size will fit in a cd rom spot.. that would look neat
considering mine is 1 x 3 cm, i dont know how i could hide it much...usually just mount it to the bottom of the case...
Hehe, crap, I didn't even think of that! I haven't had to stuff wires yet in my new case, which happens to be an Antec! But with how big it is, I just stuff things behind that plastic thing that holds those really long cards I haven't seen in forever... (too lazy to take it out) You could also make larger feet out of plexi for your case and put an inverter in each foot, along with some LEDs... (not really a serious suggestion, but I wanted to stay on topic )
I'm sure you could mount it further back in the rails, I think with my cheiftec I needed to mount the optical drives as far back on the rails as possible... drill new holes?
was thinking the same, u cant stealth drives with the normal rails as u cant get the drives far enough back, will have to drill :/
