Hello, I'm pretty new to modding and whatnot and very new to this forum. This is I guess my first real project, I have an old Apple Studio Display that I acquired for free a couple years ago. Since then it's been sitting in my room collecting dust...and has done quite a good job. I had looked into modding it to use DVI instead of it's ADC but never got around to it until I decided to take a whack at it the other day.

So far I've gotten everything soldered except the USB because I'm not planning on using it so why bother, and gotten the power working, but that's it. The display stays black, there's nothing coming up on the LCD.

If anyone knows anything about maybe which color wires go where on a DVI connector I'm sure that'd help or if you have any other info for me that would also be greatly appreciated.

What kind of modding did you do exactly to the ADC input? Did you get an actual DVI to ADC adapter (should be relatively easy to find)?

Ive done this before. I cut the ADC cable off a old apple LCD. Soldered a DVI connector to it. I just followed those pinouts. It worked fine. I did however wire up the USB. The display does only have a 1.1 hub, but the display's brightness control works over USB.

If your power supply is working correctly. And the backlight doesn't powerup when you touch the power switch then I'd question whether your display works (it's a touch sensitive switch, it should also light up, does it?), rather then questioning your adaptor job.

@Elledan: I took off the ADC cable entirely and attached a DVI and DC Jack to the back, I would've gotten the DVI to ADC adapter if I wanted to spend $100 to make this thing work, but I would rather buy a new monitor.

@bubsterboo: The power switch lights up but the LCD backlight does not. Should I go ahead and hook up the USB if the backlight works off that?

I was wondering if anyone could tell the color of the wires and where they go because while dismantling the connector to figure it out I nicked off a couple wires before I could see what pin they were on.

Also, I left out the Soft Power and LED wires, I'm not sure if those are necessary or where they would go on the DVI.

Do you know if the backlight inverter is definitely still good?

It's too late now, but that's why you always cut the cable 1" or so from the connector

I have no clue, it's been sitting for who knows how long and I nicked the wires while trying to get all the hot glue off, but I think I matched all the wires correctly, I was just hoping that the wiring was my problem and not a broken display.
