Is it me or does this look like the ******* child of Dishonored and Bioshock?

This is no bad thing in my opinion. I just got that kind of vibe from it.

Sorta. It's mostly like a 70's theme. Hilariously funny banter between your character and Julianna. Easily the best game I have played in years.

Does ratchet up in difficulty once you have the hand holding out of the way, and I did get a little confused with the times of day (I couldn't seem to find a mission to put a waypoint on so spent about two hours wandering around aimlessly) but yeah, absolutely superb.

Cracked two missions last night I was really struggling with. Went to bed at 12:30, and by 1 I was back at the PC LOL. "what if I try going in this way?".

Rick, can you comment on claims about terrible AI? Some complaints I have read seem subjective (like the abstract and "random" words that appear but don't really add anything to the game etc), but the AI seems like a considerable, semi-objective complaint that I don't think you mentioned.

I have the same problem but from the opposite direction. I will always run into situations with the biggest gun available and see what happens. And then do it again. And again. If that doesn't work I'll go level up or find an even bigger gun. Farcry 4 allowed me to charge into enemy outposts on an Elephant with a grenade launcher. Sublime.

Part of my approach is also down to hating jump scares. I find the jump scare mechanic in most games is predicated on players taking a cautionary approach. Running into every dark room already shooting at nothing pretty much eliminates the scare!

I thought the AI was fine. Not exceptional, but does the job well enough. They're not very tactical in combat, but bear in mind the enemies in Deathloop aren't professional guards or soldiers, they're hedonistic trust-fund idiots, most of whom are drunk.
