Any keyboards that are easy to take apart and paint? Most fall to pieces when I take 'em apart

Just the outer shell, not the keys

Cherry G80-3000 is nice and easy. The shell clips together with huge hard to break tabs, not even the PCB has screws just friction fit. Unless you want some unique finish, using vinyl dyes is more recommended than regular paint for durability.

A mechanical keyboard was my initial thought too & I would go for a 'cheaper' mechanical keyboard too (like the g80-3000) so there's less to lose if you stuff it up...

How to dismantle the board would vary depending on the board itself. Most are fairly simple with a couple of screws (or maybe none) and plastic tabs that hold the top shell to the bottom - I find sliding a credit card between them helps to pop open the casing...

Or if money's tight, presumably a G83-3000 will be largely identical in terms of disassembly?

It's honestly EASY to open up mech boards.

I use credit cards also to pop the top shell from the bottom. I'm pretty heavy handed, I've not broken anything yet. My keycool I think i've had the top and bottom shell apart about 20 times at least, and the top still fits back on the bottom as well as it did when I got it.

I might just have a go at my CM Rapid Fire then as that was the cheaper of my two boards. Will need to think about it and decide on a colour as I have red and white keys on it just now.
