    Afternoon All,

After a bit of electronics help for a little project i have...

    The setup:
device 1 has: a 12V output, which drops to 0v when active. I also have a 12V power source and 0v ground.
    ie:
    12V
    0v
    output1

where output1 is 12V when not active, and 0V when active

Device 2 which I activates when 12v is applied, and also needs 12V and 0v Ground.
    ie:
    12V
    0V
    Input1

where input1 needs to be 12v to activate and 0v when not active.

So I'm looking for help to get the output from device 1 to the input of device 2.

The load requirements is next to no current draw - its more or less just a signal wire.
Ive had suggestions of using transistor/relay, relay or transistors.

can someone help me along with what to use and how to connect them?

The relay/transistor needs to be small, ideally no bigger then 2cm square but can work around a little bit to make things fit if need be...

Any help/circuit diagrams would be most helpful!

I'm at a bit of a loss trying to understand you here. You have a 12v output which drops to 0v when you turn on device 1?

Do you want to use the trigger from output 1 to get the 12v power source to drive whatever uses the 12v input 1?

Are you by any chance talking about a projector or some audio equipment with a 12v trigger?

So device to is the reverse of device one? Just put the output on device one on to the base of a transistor, with the collector attached to the input of device 2, with will also need to be attached to +12v via a resistor. The emmittor of the transistor goes to ground.

    Done. Simples.

I want device 2 to be triggered by the output from device 1,

device 1 when ACTIVE is 0v, and when inactive is 12V
Device 2 needs 12V to activate.

I want device 2 to be activated when device 1 becomes active.

Are you able to suggest a suitable transistor?

Not off the top of my head. Have a poke at Rapid Online or Farnell...

not really familiar with transistors, I'm assuming a npn over pnp?
    bipolar? digital? MOSFET?

    Will be above 12v...
