I'm eyeing some empty PCIe slots, thinking about the upcoming challenge. Does anyone know of a nVidia based graphics card that (a) only requires a 6-pin power connection and (b) actually exhausts the hot air out the back of the PC, not just moving it around the interior? Cheap and quiet would be nice, but not critical. :D

Hmmm thats a toughie. Most of the dual slot nVidia cards by definition need more power. The 240GT requires very little power, but exhausts heat into the case.

Can't say I've searched systematically, but some EVGA GTS 250s and XFX 240s fit the bill as far as exhaust and power go. Seems to be important to get just the right model to get the exhausting.

My GTS 250's only require one 6 pin connector to run and exhaust the heat out the back.

250 GTS only requires one 6 pin connector? I thought they required two?

Make and model please, and how much memory, as this seems to influence the cooler design?

I just got my second GTS 250 and can't be happier. Both of them are XFX with 512MB od memory, but 1GB is not that hard to find. The one I got today is here and it only needs 1 connector, same as my older one which is clocked at 738MHz. Refardless, return is 5000-6000 PPD each.
    edit:

I just pulled the new one to the 738MHz and core and 1836MHz shaders to mach the normal version I have no problem.

    edit 2:
The one I pointed you to has an opened type cooler, but still, somehow blow the air backwards.
