i need a good search engine for finding ICs by their specs, not part numbers...

i.e.- search paramemters like supply voltage range, output current, etc...

i tried GlobalSpec's site, which is great, but it doesn't let me perform searches in certain categories.

Mouser accepts a wide range of search criteria, better results if a category is selected.

i am having trouble finding something that will serve my purpose...

i just need something that will sit on the 8 output pins of a 74hc573 that will give me more current. the chip provides 35mA on each pin, i need at least 50mA.
should i use an octal buffer? npn transistors?
whatever it is, it must be able to handle 5v on each input, and it would be convinent if the supply voltage was also 5v.

    ULN2803.

Its a transistor array with built-in resistors for the input for 5V. There are 8 channels. You give 5V to the input, the output is connected to ground and can sink 500mAmps. When the input is grounded, the output is open. Also, it requires no voltage supply.

You can interface direct to the PP with one when 8 channels is enough. :D
