can anyone recommend a decent mic/headset for gaming?
What's your budget? Some of the Sennheiser headsets are quite nice.
Yeah what sort of price range are you looking at and stuff
I have the steelpad steelsound 5H v2 gaming headset. mic goes into the cups. really comfortable to wear for long periods
no budget just looking around, if it's worth the price tag i'll get them
Plantronics DSP range - i.e. their .Audio 750 DSP: are excellent - yet surprisingly cheap headphones
But I'm getting meself a set of these Sennheiser PC 350 at the end of the month:
They're around twice the price of the Plantronics .Audio 750 DSP, but I reckon they're worth every penny
damn those sennheiser pieces look comfy.
Im stuck on a budget pos logitech headset that costs more now than when I bought it for some reason. Audio and mic are great but they're so uncomfy that your ears feel like they're being forced out through opposite sides of your head.
Anyone else got any pointers? i think headphones are gonna be my end of the month treat.
I asked about headsets a while ago and got the advise to get the ones that surround your ears and NOT the ones that press against them and I have to say after trying the type that press against your ears and experiencing pain after only a short time wearing them (1 hour or less, it felt like I had worn them for days) I took them back to where I had bought them and got a refund then went and bought some cheap ones that surround my ears and they are soooo much more comfortable.
Great advice from the Bit-Tech members!
We havent had a front pager on headsets for a looooooooong long time, im guessing nothing new or noteworthy has come out for a while.
i love those sennheiser PC 350's they look so comfortable.
Can anyone reccommend a budget range of comfortable headsets as the senn ones all seem to be 50 quid plus at the least.
I know a guy on another forum who picked up a set of Philips SHP2000 from Asda for just £13.xx, and he says they're great for such a budget set
To quote him...
Philips SHP2000 £8.99
PC 350 £89.56
.Audio 750 £40.14
The Plantronics set looks good.
I saw that price for the PC 350's on Kikatek when I was pricing them up Kenco.
Unfortunately... the 'Buy' button is still greyed out, 'coz they haven't got 'em stock
I put in a request for notification when they do get them in stock, but who knows how long the wait is gonna be?
Trouble is... they're either out of stock most everywhere else too... or they're a darned sight more expensive - i.e. £130 from both Play
The cheapest I've found them from a store which has them in stock, is £107.00 from Komplett
I got my self the SteelSeries Siberia Fullsize Headset as my very 1st proper gaming headset.... sound grate with my soundcard.
SHP ones do indeed look comfy but are they a gaming headset? they dont seem to have a mic
There are two versions of that headset, and it would appear the USB version is about £20 more expensive than the 3.5mm jack version?
Scan = £63 for the USB. Specialtech = £44 for the 'jack'
Regarding the microphone:
I received my Sennheiser PC166 headset this morning, and must say, am so far impressed! Comfortable, brilliant sound quality at all ranges, along with an excellent microphone... and a cheap price!
Ooh, might have to get this set.
there all Jack versions... you just get a USB sound card with the USB version.. i dont use it as i have a X-FI and it does have a mic..
aye sennheiser make good gear. i always use them.
I can definitely recommend the PC350s from Sennheiser... not cheap but well worth it if you can afford... (review here if anyone's interested: http://www.itreviews.co.uk/hardware/h1607.htm )
