iAudio M3 > * smaller cheaper better looking supports lossless formats (flac zomg and ogg and wma and mp3, dont think it does aac) doesnt need any software installing, USB Mass Storage Cheesecake radio (meh, dont care) inline recording (see above) voice recording (ditto)
Still in box Still cute On or around my birthday, I will take it to the apple retail store and exchange it for a 60gb iPod. (My girlfriend was trying to convince me that the 20gb was enough, but then I looked at my itunes and noticed that I have 21.2gb of music - Now I have no choice - it's the 60gb for me. )
you took the words right out of my mouth! If you ask me, iPod is the cheap imitation mp3 player, except its not cheap, so not only to you end up with a heap of junk, you end up with a lot less money. The headphones on the iPod are possibly the worst headphones I have ever seen, and I've bought a pair of headphones of ebay for £2. A bunch of my friends bought ipods when they were new and cool, and none of them still works properly. The non-replaceable battry rapes itself, the headphones fall to peices, the HDD becomes faulty and you cant drag + drop files, you have to use iTunes. What's the point in paying more and getting less??? Well perhaps some people do care about that....
thats why i still listed them... i was listing features of the M3 that make it better than the iPod, i just dont personally care if it has radio/inline recording/voice recording the M3 would still be better if it didnt have those features
I use the iRiver h320, love it to pieces, only reason I bought it instead of an ipod is the fact that I don't need to install any software (usb mass storage, just drag and drop) and it supports .ogg As for organising your music, haven't you heard of folders ?
Yep - I have folders for each artist with a subfolder in the artist folders for each album. Indside the album folders are my WAVs, my AACs, my MP3s, etc. iTunes created the folders for me and put my music in them when I asked it to. (Of course, this is an option - you don't need to if you don't want to.) Also, covering an earlier commnet, iTunes and the iPod support a lossless audio format.
Couldn't make it - I opened it. It's pretty cool - I like the LEDs on it. I currently have it loaded with 6.8 hours of music. Sounds good - light-weight. I like it.
I may be interested in buying it off you if you do choose to get the 60gig. I currently have a 20gig 3G but dont need it/need the money, and was going to buy a shuffle due to the small size and itunes support. I have to say im with you with regards to itunes, and before anyone chooses to ridicule it, I dont care, I use itunes and think its better than alternatives.
Now I have both - I bought my 60gb iPod on saturday. I don't even touch the shuffle anymore. I'm trying to talk my girlfriend into using it, but she's not interested. Love the 60gb - it's great. I would be interested in selling the shuffle, but it seems like it wouldn't be worth the shipping from the US to Ireland.
Congrats on your win. I use the creative zen myself. I had it for about 2 years no problems with and i abuse it. I got it over the ipod for price reasons and space the 40gb was about 250 at the time and the 40gb ipod was aroud 400 i think. But my friend also got the same modle and now that one in the trash. I didn't get a chance to look at before he tossed it. I think it is all up to personal preferance.
My sister dropped her zen on concrete. It broke. So they sent her a replacement!!! A lot of my friends have iPods and they have ceased to work, despite good care, I somehow doubt that they would replace it if you sent it back. iPods are good, but I think that people are just going straight for the brand-name rather than actually buying the best.
For the record, my portable audio player ownership history has been: 32mb (or maybe 16mb) RCA lyra 5gb ipod 10gb (I think) archos jukebox 128mb little creative thing that functioned as a thumb drive 64mb + mmc expansion slot rio 30gb ipod 512mb ipod shuffle 60gb ipod The ipod has the best ui of any portable player itunes has the best ui of any jukebox software itunes has the best ui of any portable music player sync software itunes music store has the best ui of any online music store none of the competitors has come close to best player+best jukebox software+best sync software+best music store When that happens, perhaps the iPod will start to lose market share. If any of you truly believe that I bought an iPod because of the 'brand name' you are deluding yourself.
I have to admit that iTunes has a very good ui. I wasnt referring to you in particular when i mentioned the brandname, just a lot of people who arent as techy as you or I. However i disagree with sync software. Something about the syncing that doesnt really push any buttons for me. Sometimes I get confused, or I dont know whether is actaully doing anything. I wish there was just one single progress bar and as you added more songs to get copied across the bar shortened, to take account that more needs to be done. But again i agree with the music store, although slightly pricy I havnt seen anything like it as of yet.
