hey guys, well im going to try and make this as brief as possiable. i am in the process of planning a computer mod that will be made out of wood but in the end you will not know its wood, i will be making this in my woodshop at school. but anyway as the topic states it will be themed off of transformers. i originaly had a the plans set and ready to go, but then i was looking at the stormbringer mod by hobbes and i had a wave of new ideas, sadly my new ideas and old ideas cannot really incorperate. so i need some help from you guys....and girls. my original idea consisted of building a rather large case 4 feet by 2 feet. themeing the case around transformers, on the front of the case making two 1 and a half feet tall "autobot" tower. and incorperating a 120mm fan in each of them. and for a usb and speaker jack i took a broken G1 optimus prime toy. and i dont know if anyone has ever seen one but the front cab opens up and there was plenty of room to fit a usb jack and a speaker port. this i have already done, looks quite nice to. this i can incorperate in the new idea no big. and on the top half of the case i was going to install a displaycase. in this display case i am going to include some of the new toys, all of them are to be repainted and have LED's and junk installed in them. and i am not just going to throw them in there, i am going to decorate the display case to look like cybertron under attack. and the "toys" will be placed in Fighting poses pointed there guns to the sky and at the top overlooking the case i am going to take the Unicron toy and "trick" him out and make it look as if he is about to attack. and in the middle of the fray i am taking a an optimus prime toy, from the RID serise if that helps. and i have cut out and installed windows in his chest, and drilled a hole into his head, in these i have installed LEDs. so that his chest and eye will glow. the display case will also include more but i will be here forever typing so that is the long and short of the display case. In the middle of the tower i am going to install one of those plasma balls so that when seen it will look as if the computer has its own spark ( for those of you who dont know, a spark is almost like the heart and soul of a transformer). i am going to paint the case in red and blue most likly havent fully decided. the drives are going to be stealthed and all that normal modding...cold cathodes and the like. for fan grills i will be making custom one that look like the autobot insignia. also included into the case will be a standalone MP3 jukebox that will be detachable and be ins own free standing computer. man that was long and that was my old or current idea. i have all of this planned on paper i will try to get the plans scanned within a day or two. now for my new idea. my new idea, is kind of inspired by as i said the stormbringer mod. with my new idea i plan on keeping the look of a cybertron riddled with destruction but instead of a huge display case i am think of just going to use an optimus prime and a megatron. and on top of the case have them looking as if locked in battle. in this idea i am going to keep the usb port, the plasma globe, and the steathed junk, and instead of having the MP3 jukebox connect with the real tower, i will make another much smaller modded case. anyway thanks for letting me bore your ear off. but please help i need input. and i need it fast i need to have a decision and plans drawn up by the fifth, thats when i start school again, i only have a semester to do this project so time is off the essance. and please vote in the poll.
voted for the fist idea... always wanted to do a scene type idea witha case mod, but never had the guts to try to make something.. i fear it will look bad. anyway,i relaly hope to see tis in the proect logs once you get it started, and good luck
As far as my tastes are concerned, I would strongly advise against a Transformers mod - poorest choice, if you were to get a transformers' case you'd be better off getting one of those ugly cases that seem to be pretty popular these days ...
Honestly, I completely agree with this, but I'm sure there are people who think creating a light show in an sff case, throwing in over 200 LED's and 10 CCFL's is completely stupid (my current mod), so to each their own. I just don't have anything constructive to say
its not goin to be a pre-modded case with additions, its going to be a case fabricated entirly out of wood.
maybe you could have the whole case look like one giant transformer? it doesn't have to transform, but that would be cool. may be have fans for a rocket pack? i seem to remember one of the generations of transformers having a giant ass optimus prime with wings and stuff. maybe you could have the fight scene inside him? maybe you could kitbash and paint the outside? sounds like a lot of work, but might be worth it.
