Yeah they just put up new legislature. They aren't going to stop. The only way to stop this crap is to put people in power who understand that the internet should be a right. How about we actually slow down the websites? A freaking banner ad for one day isn't going to accomplish anything. Thing is none of the ISP's give a ****. They can just ignore all of this and people will still pay for their services because there is no alternative. If a large amount of customers just canceled their subscriptions then they would start caring. Token gesture (sign a petition, like a facebook page, wear a wristband) that has no real cost. That way you have all the benefits of feeling like you're doing something, with none of the cost of actually doing something. Everyone will forget about this joke tomorrow.
SOPA / PIPA were changed, these big corps are going to keep getting away with as much as they can. But they were not as bad as they were in the original draft. A banner ad for one day will do a lot, It will get the attention of people unaware of the situation to think and at least consider acting. Token gestures work by building momentum of a cause, reaching out further than a "cancel your ISP on set day" event as most people will be locked in a contract. In the US it's worse as you may only have one provider. They might seem to not do much as nothing changes now, it's more of a planting a seed thing, the flower comes later.
