iRiver N10 - Looks sexeh - LCD screen - Excellent quality - Nice strap to put around neck and quality headphones - Stupid software has to be installed to put music on - Pricey in comparison to iPod Shuffle - Not compatible with iTunes protected music iPod Shuffle - Small and light - Again, nice strap for putting round neck and quality headphones - No other software needed as I already use iTunes - Compatible with iTunes protected music - Cheaper than iRiver N10 - No screen - Maybe not as cool looking ---------------------------------------------- Just looking for a smaller MP3 player as my H320 is too bulky for everyday use.
You might well miss the screen... There was none on the original muvo and it was a tad annoying, the NX had a screen and was soooo much nicer to use..
Why exactly would you want a shuffle when you can have this beast Oh and haven't you heard the News . Death
Wait for the new Sony ones to come out with the lush OLCDs in They look pretty nifty. Personally I'd spend an extra £40 and get a Zen Micro, but if you're really after a decent flash player, these look quite smart too . (notice how I haven't made any decision at all and just posted random mp3 players). <A88>
how can you recommend the n10??? Code: shuffle n10 weight(g) 22 22* volume(cm cubed) 17.64 18.02** battery life(hours) 12(15 reported) 11(7 normal use) *normal. B type (?): 28.5g **without cap. with cap: 22.61 cm cubed i cant see how you would even consider the n10 here in the US, these are the BEST prices i could find on the N10 Code: 128MB N10-101 $130 256MB N10-103 $156 512MB N10-105 $220 512MB shuffle $100 1GB shuffle $150 how can you justify spending $150 for 256MB instead of 1GB??? Code: shuffle n10 price X size X weight X itunes X other online music X screen X the ipod shuffle was perfect for me. its like a portable playlist. if you're like me, you're at your computer all the time, so changing songs in itunes is super easy. i dont even mind that it doesnt have a screen. with most mp3 players this small, the screen is useless anyways. i dont see how you could even consider getting the n10 if you already use itunes (unless the prices for the n10 are SIGNIFICANTLY lower in europe) i also liked the looks of the new sony players, but the guys at DAPreview.com have played with them for a little bit at cebit, and they said they felt pretty cheap and too large
That's a bit biased imo, having only one pro for the iriver? It's got so many more features, voice recording etc, as well as better audio quality; and iTunes isn't excactly an advantage is it? Code: shuffle n10 price X size X weight X looks X audio quality X voice recording X other online music X screen X <A88>
itunes is an advantage if he already has all his music organized with it. (which he stated in the first post) yes, features like voice recording are a bonus for some people. i have never wanted or felt the need to record my voice, but i imagine some people might. if you want features like that, why not get something that offers line-in, FM, and FM recording? my comparison was based on the n10, and it only offers voice recording as a extra feature, which is just about the most useless feature integrated on an mp3 player (in my view) you also cannot claim that audio quality of the iriver is superior. audio quality is very subjective. you can state that the iriver offers 6 equalizers which the ipod shuffle does not. each person is looking for something different in an mp3 player. for me size(physical), price, and ease of use are my top priorities (in that order). the biggest disadvantage in my mind of the n10 is the price. its rediculous
My friend has a shuffle and it's pretty snazzy and really small. The N10 looks good too but the shuffle is quite a bit cheaper.
Because it kicks ass. We don't all want an absolute minimal MP3 player with questionable audio quality (listened to them in the apple shop). A screen is pretty much essential for anything more than 256mb unless you're content to quick scan through each track of what may be a 100 track list.
you cannot bring up a question of audio quality unless you've had a chance to thoroughly test. listening at the store to songs of an unknown compression rate on headphones that you dont have expreience with doesnt come close to good test conditions. many reviewers have found the shuffle to have better bass response than the regular ipods. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1753026,00.asp as for the screen, yes i know that some people will like having a screen. but you have to pay more than double to get it! if the n10 was at the same pricepoint, or ever $10 or $20 more, then i would understand. but its $120 more!! thats rediculous.
I can't see what's wrong with this tbh-OGG, radio, screen and voice recorder. So long as you can get it in the us... <A88>
