Starting with my system info, even though it's in my signature: Phenom X4 9650 @ 2.3GHz 4GB DDR2 800 Gigabyte GA-MA780G-UD3H Alright. I've got the FSB set to 240, and the multiplier to 11.5. As far as I know, this should be giving me a clock speed of ~2.7GHz [I've gotten this before, note]. But for some reason I'm only getting 2.3GHz. Here's speccy: Code: Cores 4 Threads 4 Name AMD Phenom X4 9650 Code Name Agena Package Socket AM2+ (940) Technology 65nm Specification AMD Phenom(tm) 9650 Quad-Core Processor Family F Extended Family 10 Model 2 Extended Model 2 Stepping 3 Revision DR-B3 Instructions MMX (+), 3DNow! I have a feeling it's my issue. EditEdit: I'm going to keep playing with it, but I'm not really sure if anything will change, if I fix it before I get a reply here, I'll report back.
Okay, I loaded failsafe defaults in the BIOS, and reset the multiplier to 11.5, fsb to 240. CPUZ now see the correct fsb and multiplier, but windows isn't. Edit: CPU-Z is seeing 5.75 again. Could it be some setting I don't know I have on that's throttling it down somehow?
Oookay, found and turned off AMD coolnquiet, not windows, cpuz, and speccy see 2.76GHz. Please to delete thread. I feel foolish for making it before exploring all of my options.
I know you found your answer, but he turn off cool & quiet? I only ask because on my oc I left it on, it ramps up to the oc when I need it to, am I missing something by leaving it on, or is it personal preference?
You're probably not missing anything, but I like seeing the OC all the time, knowing it's at that clock. With CoolnQuiet, it may ramp it up during a game, but I don't really know. So it's personal preference. I may turn it back on later, when I can test things.
