iv been offered some kingston hperX ram for prices cheaper than generic from a mate. i asked what chips it used and the guy got the model number off the box for me. model is KHX3200AK2/1G (1gig dual channel kit) does anyone know if these are BH-5m tccd etc chips? when i can get a gig for AUS$180 im not gonna complain
they are either samsung tccd or windbond bh5 If they are indeed the 2-2-2-5 capable ones then i would grab them I bought 4 sticks of the ul stuff and 2 of them where tccd and two of them were bh5. i used memtest to see which sticks i could overclock better and the samsung ones won over the bh5 chips Both are good so if you can get a good deal I say go for it.
*IF* you can get the spreaders off it should say on the chips what they are... Same with manufacture date. You could always mail Kingston and find out what chips they used...
