My laptop doesn't boot up. When I turn it on, the fan blows for about 15 seconds, after that it turns off again. Occassionally however, it will boot up, but that's only in the morning or in the evening, when I wait long enough.

I suspect some kind of hardware failure, but am not sure where to seek it.

    Anyone?

If that happened to a desktop I would suggest a heat issue. have you tried blowing through the vents? I do that to my work laptop monthly, which is usually followed by a few minutes of coughing up the dust that fills the air.

Other than that, what kind of laptop is it?

    HP Compaq NC6000
    Intel Pentium M 1.6GHz
    1GB RAM
20Gb harddisk (not sure of the brand)
    CD-RW/DVD combo (HP stock)

I've noticed that the system does boot in the morning when it cooled down enough. So it seems to be a heat problem indeed. Still have to open her up to find out if I can find anything wrong with the cooling.
