So the deal behind this is... late at night there are two things about my desktop that annoy the piss out of me. A) the blindingly bright power led on my shuttle, B) the outside fan of my pushpull fan setup's bright blue led's I did not want to actually get rid of having the LED fan because I quite like the way it looks during the day. But at night it is a bother. Turning off the fan was simply not an option. So? I had to find a way to turn off the LED's What I found was that on the fan's pcb all the LED's shared a common ground with the fan's ground. So I unsoldered each of the led's ground wire and tied them all together and ran 2 wires out of the fan. One of those is the power return for the LED's ground. the other is soldered to the fan's ground pad so that it makes not having to hunt for a ground quite an addition. Here are some pics: Fan switched on, with the LED's first off, then on Side view, first with the LED's off, then on The leads coming off the fan, The standard fan connector, and my two additional wires which I will integrate into a fasion to dim both my shuttle's front panel LED's and turn off the Fan's LED's all together Thanks for taking a look.
dude, nice. yeah those leds are bright at night. but umm, pwn, what are you going to use to dim them?
werd dude, looks good, are you going to cut the shuttle led off too? i say you should wire up some transistors or some **** and hook it up to your LPT port and make it come on and go off at certain times or some crazy stuff that you do
great idea. I totally agree, blue at night is annoying even the green light on my psu is annoying at night
