I'm after a new mouse but being left-handed it kinda limits the field somewhat. Anyone recommend a good ambi mouse (i.e. one that isn't shaped to accomodate the right hand but is symmetrical)? Looking to spend ~£20-£30. Cheers
Microsoft Optical Intellimouse standard version. Excellent piece of kit, had two in succession now - first one lasted 4 years of almost 24/7 use.
Most Logitech mice are Ambi I think. Can't help you on specific models, but its a good brand to have a look at
Most of the microsoft mouses are ambi Did you ever try'd to use your right hand? I'm also lefthanded and i always used my right hand.
Most new MS mice are right handed. A lot of Logitechs are both however.. I have a Logitech LX300 keyboard and mouse set, the mouse is symetrical.. Pretty nice setup, nothing fancy with the mouse though..
the MS intellimouse is an awesome mouse. but dont get it from ebuyer! i got mine from scan for about a tenner
Have been looking at the Logitech MX310, it's symmetrical so no probs there. What are everyone's thoughts on it? Think I'd prefer Logitech over MS as I've had some problems with MS hardware before.
I am a lefty, and I use the right hand for mousing as well. Perhaps you should try that. I also believe that the Razor mouse that was reviewed on bit a while ago what ambi, is that correct?
Agreed. Though I must say, just learn to use the mouse righty. pumpman, you're just a freak, obviously. Even most lefties I know use the mouse righty. If 10% of the pop is LH, why are 100% of school comps set up righty? Considering we changed our mascot because one kid pretended to be offended (or just doesn't get "deal with it"), I think something that actually could affect learning would be changed on the spot.
the razer copperhead is quite awesome, the sensitivity takes some getting used to, but the flexibility is nice, (I'm a lefty) the driver software is a bit dodgy, but it works OK without it. (I reccomend installing it, configuring the mouse to your preferences, then uninstalling the config software. it's a bit unstable) plus it's wired which is for me a bonus. I can't stand wireless crap from the noisy enviro I live in.
Well I don't see why I should have to learn to use the mouse with my right hand, people do things differently and it's not as if it was my choice to be left handed. It's just stupid how so many mice nowadays are only usable with the right hand. Gah. And the reason all your school's machines are set up for right handed people is because they are the majority, it's not as if the school could set up 10% of the machines for left handed people and hope that each left handed person chose a machine with the mouse on the left
If you don't mind paying a few extra quid the Razer Diamondback and Copperhead are great, both ambi. My gf picked a diamondback off eBay for me for not too much.
