For anyone that didn't know, Maplin are selling these rather nice alloy mouse mats, which i think have been out longer than the cooler master ones,

    £4.99 in xmas sales

    anyway pics!

I personally don't think that it effects my optical mouse but it is taking a little getting used too.

    Enjoy

    Andy,

    Interesting find I must say!

But, I won't be trading my Everglide any time soon for a sheet of aluminium, even though I imagine it would be pretty slick. I imaging that it's brushed Alu as well eh?

Pretty smart way to make use of 'scrap' and create some sort of profit... :p

Since I cut a window on my Lian-Li, I have a spare sheet of alu. I saw that mouse pad in the Lian-Li site and I tried the alu sheet if it would work with my optical mouse. luckily it did, but then teh mouse made an annoying noise while I move it about on the sheet. Does the Commercial Lian-Li mouse mat has some clear coating or something on the aluminum, or is it just the bare brushed face?

DeX i have the silver keyboard but it's on the side of the desk not in view.

I'm getting a silver MS mouse soon to match all the silver goodness.

Also i'm gonna get another mat as i have plans for this one, All i can say is that it won't be a mouse mat when i'm finished! :naughty:

I also have plans for the one that i get next, involves some 5mm perspex and LEDs :naughty:

The mat appers to have the same finish as the case. it does get cold but i have a wrist rest so i can't feel it. It dosn't apper to make a noise like you said x24

does the optical mouse still work perfectly on the alu surface ?

Heard somewhere that they mess up optical mice.

Or was it one of those glassy type mouse pads ?

I have a few problems with it. First, it's small. Second, they have like a mini badge on it that gets in the way. It works alright with optical mice, but not quite how I would like it to. My suggestion, get the coolermaster one. It's big, works well, and only has a small logo on it =). That or make one yourself.

thread revival, but with good reason. (plus i didn't see the need for a new thread)

I got a small mouse pad at Christmas, and it must be very similar to those mentioned above.
It's brushed aluminium, bought from WHSmiths, branded 'Storex'.

Problem is, it doesn't seem to work particularly well with my optical mouse (trust, nothing special, but it works fine with my old Carmaggeddon mat).
And I also get the noise mentioned above.

Any suggestions on how to persuade it to work better &/or quieten?

    Thanks in advance, j
