Forget that info it was wrong
Would the Leadtek play doom3 and aoe3 and paciffic assault really well? How much of a performance increase will I notice?
The leadtek would play those games but that is PCI-E you need AGP. I have just checked the specs and 9800 pros are backwards compatible with agp 4x
No, I meant this leadtek: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/6600AGP_Series.html

That card would blow you away it would make a huge difference
your card would currently be about 1/4 of the speed of the slowest one on the test and the 6600Gt is over half way up
Yeah, I will probably go for that, most likely withink a week, so if anyone has any objections. Thanks for your help Sgoaty.
Happy to help
Sorry, I know I am being cautious, but will this card definately work in my motherboard?
The main things I am worried about is the voltage it runs on, and whether my motherboard supports 8X agp. Would the card run in a 4X slot?
You need a card like the bottom one. I don't think the 6600 you've linked will work.
Well, it says that only 2X cards won't work with 4X slots, and the 6600 is 8X and is a fairly new card as well. Plus, here: http://uk.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=3&l2=13&l3=59&model=220&modelmenu=1
it says that the motherboard has 8X agp. I know mine will be an oem version, but it can't have changed that much. The only place that says 4X is cpu - z, and I trust the manufacturers datasheet and many websites more. I know I have answered my own question, but I really can't afford to buy a useless card. Also, in this picture:
it shows an agp slot (the brown one) as only having one divider, which matches the 6600 card. Thanks anyway, as any information is useful.
It will work 8x cards will work in a 4x slot the article BigZ linked to was quite good
Thanks everyone, I've gone for the 6600 gt agp, should arrive later today, if the couriers are to be trusted. I will let you know how it gets on.
did you get it yet?
And up until now, I thought AGP was AGP. Man, thank God for those lucky purchases back then and the ones I've recommended!
AGP is AGP, but there are some issues between 8x, 4x and 2x card support on a budget mobo, which are pretty nasty at best.
Well, I got it, it is absolutely amazing. It plays doom 3 on highest setting (apart from AA, which i run on 4X) and it plays aoe3 on highest apart from AA, which is high instead of highest. The detail is amazing, thanks a lot everyone for their advice.
