Hello I have a PSONE screen that I want to use as a secondry display on my PC. I have read the appropriate threads and got as far as stripping the plastics down. I have now gotten to the stage where I need it to be soldered up and I know absoloutley nothing about electronics and my soldering skills are terrible. Would anybody be willing to solder this up for me as per instructions? I would pay a small token for your time and cover the postage costs. Please let me know if you would like to undertake this project for me. Thanks
*BUMP* Surely one of you solder guru's would like to earn a bit of extra cash for this small project?
i wouldn't mind helping you, but I doubt that you'd want to pay postage all the way over here and back....
Too true Kerri Ann, lets hope somebody here in the UK has got that same sunshine state attitude towards helping people. Thanks.
Hackstar- are you opposed to learning to do it yourself? it's really not all that difficult. if you have a decent soldering iron (i use a 12W weller soldering pencil, cost me all of 13 dollars), it's pretty easy.
I have tried minor electronics and can solder larger area's, but I have a reallly shakey hand when it gets down to more precise soldering. I just thought this would be easy to knock up for the regulars in here and maybe somebody would like the chance to try it out. I'm scared in case I break the screen.
i had uber problems when it came to soldering SMD IC's. try resting the tip on your objective, when i solder SMD IC's i rest the tip of the iron (why is the handle so friggin far out anyway? pencils aren't held like that for a reason ) on the board so it is touching the tip of the IC's leg. let it heat up for a while (the board, not the iron, which should be hot already) and then softly touch the tip of the solder to the tip of the iron. should flow right into the joint. try scrounging around for an old modem or some other manufactured PCB that has all types of stuff on it. i got an old modem from a friend that had both types (SMD and thru-hole) of IC's, LED's, capacitors, and a transformer! if you're serious about electronics, you'll have to bit the bullet and learn sometime. whats the point of making PCB's and other stuff when you need someone else to make it? i might ask a lot of simple and stupid questions (just about everyone here can attest to that) but thats because i want to learn, instead of hiring someone. we don't got this guy for nuthin'
