I have HP laptop, the usual boring blue & gray. I'm thinking about modding the case.

    This is my machine:

    System Manufacturer Hewlett-Packard
    System Model Pavilion ze5400 (DL404A)
    Processor x86 Family 15 Model 2 Stepping 9 GenuineIntel ~2392 Mhz
    Total Physical Memory 512.00 MB

My question is, how badly can I f:duh:ck up, and is it possible?

I am a technician, and I have been for years, so I do know the dangers of what is possible. What I am thinking of is, turning the laptop case into looking like a rock using spray foam, and granit paint. Now I know I am going to have to seal off all opening to prevent liquid from entering the case.

    I have an old p1 dead win95 machine that I'll practice on first :D :D :D

tape up the touch pad cos those things dont like having a coating of paint on them and also remove all the keys (yes they do come off). But if i were you id just take all the equipment out of the laptop and do what you want with the case. Its not that difficult to do all you need is the right type of screw driver and a pen and paper to make a note of where all the bits came from.

if you do decide to go ahead with the mod then dont forget the pictures :D

I think the easiest and safest would be to just remove the case, and mod away as mentioned by LAGmonkey. I'd love to see the pics of this mod though

yah, i'd have to say, shell the case, remove everything inside it. taping parts off is all well and good, but you only have to miss one hole, and you have a dead or brokkie lappy. just stip it down, and remove everything inside, then go wild on the case.

i'd be interested to see how you make it look like a rock, ive seen one or two ways of doing it, but none using spray-foam. i'll look forward to seeing the result, and which method you choose to do it.
