That does depend on the game. Pretty much always on racing games because there'sonly so much pop-rock I can listen to. On games with their own unique soundtracks? Pretty much never, I don't think Deus Ex or Metro would work half as well without the music, although I did nuke it on Battletech, which has about 7 tracks in total. Then there's Ace Combat, I'm fairly sure disabling the music on that is a crime, it's certainly unethical at the very least.
Really depends on the game. MMORPGs, music off. Online FPS, why even have music outside the menus. Single-player games, music on.
I think it comes down to immersion for me. If I am moving my way through a dystopian landscape, I don't want some traveling minstrels making a noise in the background the whole time like The Holy Grail.
All this game needed was a Mission Editor and a Co-Op Campaign and it would of been PERFECT also surprised you posted this and not Daredevil tbh Personally for me it depends on the game, but usually i leave it on unless i find the OST particularly grating
I see it as meant to be there, so leave it on. Can't really think of a game I didn't like it on. Can't imagine Wipeout without the music getting you in the zen zone, or Half-Life without its occasional tracks. Or the end of Max Payne 3...
I think the clacking coconuts would be more appropriate. Personally, I'd usually turn it down by 1/3 but leave it in. I try to play games as they are designed the first time round. Rarely bother to go back multiple times though.
It’s the same for me. In the RPG/MMORPG games I play, I want to be able to hear the ambient sounds in the environment. I want to be able to hear enemies I can’t see, skeletons creaking, bandits talking in the next chamber of a cave, not repetitive same-every-time-I-play muzak.
its good but it takes too long for the drop. personally I'm a sucker for Anchorhead Raid over sol Squadron. All AC7 needed to rule over all was a survival mode w/ return line and a jukebox.
I've recently picked that up on offer, will have to keep an ear out for it when I get around to playing it.
The Finals would like a word! https://open.spotify.com/album/3qa278k1yFyeCfZyGL7clo (Also, Payday tbf)
Driving games I turn it off. Anything with a plot, is usually chosen to work with the scene and adds to it, so is always left on.
