I'm running windows 10 pro the gf is running windows 7 (she doesn't want to upgrade). I can access her system with no issues over the network she's unable to access mine at all if she attempts to it asks her for a password which doesn't exist. if I turn off password required sharing (using an admin account) its says okay and when i check it again its gone back to password required sharing and shes still unable to to connect. Any ideas?
The network is local and not open to the outside world is it? Get her off W7, it's not been supported for years.
Hopefully the Win7 PC is not connected to the internet. Yep, hopefully the W7 PC is not connected to the internet in any way. It might sound a bit extreme but with support for security fixes having ended quite some time ago, the OS is vulnerable. You can check out the vulnerabilities here.
its connected to the net via the router but shes basically only using it to read on and to use for a program called nox, shes also running avg ultimate and hasn't had any issues other than not being able to see/access my pc or the drive I want to share with her. The reason she doesn't want to upgrade is several of the programs she uses won't work with any O/S newer than 7
Still a no go, if / when you get the access to your PC working, she has a PC that's vulnerable to attacks, with access to your PC...recipe for disaster.
Even windows 10 has received it's last feature update and is now only on maintenance and security updates.
