as the title says, I was in an accident a few weeks ago and this guy hit y rear left tail light and the left side of my tailgate. The lights in my dash didnt go out untill about a week later, I dont quite know when my taillights went out. The brake lights still work but my tail lights dont go on when I put on my headlights. any help? I've tried replacing all the fuses under my dash and even the lights behind the instrument panel.

get a clue and have something constructive to say

as for the nissan, check both fuse boxes for blown fuses, and check to see that the wires for the running lights/taillights aren't damaged or grounding to the body near where you were hit. if the system is grounding to the body, your lights might not come on, also check to see that the wires themselves are not damaged

ROFL first time for everything. Righ on brother.

    now on to the thread.
It sounds like you may have some burnt out relays or a big wiering problem with your rear tail lights being shorted out.

You can get yourself a 1980's town car for about 500-800bux and those things are freaking bullet proof. I have personaly seen them with more than 500k miles on the clock and the engine ran perfectly. Or a chevy caprice classic of the 80's is just as bullet proof and can be had for the same price. The chevy is a bit faster than the town car tho.

Funny story about a 1984 chevy caprice classic. I was working somewere and I notice on of those tanks rolling around and it looked like it was new from factory . The driver stops in the vicinity and I talked to him. it turns out the guy is retired 7 or 8 years and he has owned the car since new, the car had 600k+ on the clock, the engine was never rebuilt but well maintained and the car was just recently repainted original color. Turns out the caprice was used as a taxi cab for about 6-7 years puting around 300k miles on clock.

Funny thing is that the car sounded very nice and the motor sounded like it was new. Ran smoothly. the guy claimed that he has hit 155mph in that thing.

    Ok enough ranting.

I would look into geting those lights reliable as one nite you may find they dont work and your on the road. Its a bad situation to put yourself in.

had something simialr in my chevy pickup.

for me there were many tow wiring harnesses spliced in the back, and they had several bad connections. when i removed them and straightened them out problem was solved.

do your brakelights work without your headlights on?

You dont give details of the accident, but if he bashed into the light, have a look and make sure no wires are crossed.

Also, it was completely un necessary to replace ALL the fuses. Just take them out, have a look, and if the little metal element looks burnt or broken in two, then replace it. If it looks clean, leave it. Or if you really want to check them, just use a multimeter and check resistance (ohms).

But yeah, like I said, check the bulb assembly and make sure everything is clean. If its trashed, stick some electrical tape over all the contacts until you get a replacement.
