Good evening people. My uncle has an NTL/Virgin broadband package and has had the NTL120 / 60194E A12 cable modem with it. He wanted wireless so I got a Wireless G Router (F5D7230-4) and wired it up with the install Cd and it all worked. It made an issue with Youtube/iPlayer it would play 5mins of video then stop or just fail to play the video. Disconnected the router and direct to the modem and it worked fine. So I tried a second router but couldn't get the internet working again without the CD. Even though the second router had been used on another NTL modem (a newer blue one) and had no problems it won't work with the one at my uncles. So, pretty much. Router won't work well with NTL broadband modem, any idea why?
Try a wired connection to the router. Here's how it should be set up: Modem > Routers LAN port > Port 1 > PC
NTL Modem and Wireless Router I am using an NTL Cable Modem and a 2 Netgear Routers and have been for years with no problem's and I connect a number of machines via the wireless this is the reason for the two wireless routers. I have also seup two routers at my girlfriends a Linksys and a netgear that are connected to a NTL/Virgin cable modem again with no problems. My setup is Modem --->Wireless router---> Wireless router items I have that can connect wireless are Iphone Ipod Touch Laptop PS3 Xbox 360 Wii DS Lite What items are you trying to connect to the wirless router? Just a PC?
Hey, Yep, using both wireless (for a laptop) and a wired connection to the router. So Modem > Router (Modem Port) > Computer (lan). Which works, I have connection ... well HAD with the installer CD, but my main issue is still the flash video playback.
I have a similar issue with a Belkin router. After about 5 minutes of no activity (like when reading an article) I lose the internet connection, and can't ping the router anymore. I'm not here looking for assistance resolving the issue, but I blame some power saving feature Belkin likely implemented that drops idle connections until another request is sent, but since it isn't listening for the connection, it's never reestablished over the wireless. I'd suggest replacing the router.
