for the last 3 weeks i've been trying to connect some reverse collision detection sensor via usb to my pc. due to a stupid mistake i used a wrong wire and one of the boards went to smoke... and the sole part still looking right is the pic. what i want to do is to extract the firmware from it, program a new pic and redo both of the boards into a single double sided board. anyway. the question is general with no particular pic in mind. because the 2 boards have 3 different pics in total. can it be done? anyone?
It may be possible. To be honest though, if you fried something on the same noard as the PIC, you probably fried something in the PIC too. Also, there may be a chance that the PIC program is code protected. You wont know until you try to read the PIC with a programmer.
ok, so basically i was thinking the same thing. using the programmer to read the code from the pic. do you have one in mind? like a one size fits all zif sockets
The Olimex PG2C found on this site is a JDM programmer for DIP chips. Its cheap, sold worldwide (search the site for resellers in your part of the world), and works great with WinPIC800. You need a real serial port for it to work though.
thanks for the quick response, by the way awesome microcontroller witeup. i'im using a laptop so no serial, and the motherboard i use for a carpc doesn; have a serial port
