Electronics Powering Neon other than PSU?

    how can i power my Akasa Neon (4pin molex) from a source other than the PSU? i would like to have it for my desk.

    Static electricty works with neons, rather cool actually, if you hook urself upto a vandograph, whilst standing on an insulator, u just have to hold it and it will turn on.
    or a LOT of potatos.

    where would i buy the adapters, ive checked maplin, and so far cant see them.

    a molex -> usb would be cool :lol:

    You can't realy get that much juice from a USB port, and its a lot of hassal.

    The comm port, u can steal power from that, but again its hard to get the voltage you probably want.
    PS2 port should have 100ma on tap. Also the game port is a easy source of power.

    Yes, but I think the word "neon" in this case is adspeak. It's a ccfl, so needs a fair bit of power. Mappers had a nice 1.2A regulated power block (VN10L, still on promo as UG47B) in the last sale at £10, me got 1. :D

    Vandograph? Not a Wimms hurts? :naughty:

    Also there's one in Argos if you don't have a Maplin nearby. £7.99 - 1.2A page 91.

    Or try a tesla coil (just sit it on top and it'll glow nicely)
