Name: Apollo - named after the Roman god of music
    Function: In room music server.
Capibilities: Play music using iTunes, download music via internet/network using bit torrent, AIM, FTP etc. , rip and burn CDs, play music through my home theater 5.1 surround reciever. Controlled via VNC from other computer in room. NOT used for DVDs, movies or video. This is an AUDIO only functioning PC.
    Starting Hardware Specs:
    • P3 455mhz
    • 64 meg ram MINIMAL
    • 10 gig HDD - for OS and the FEW programs I will use. Had it laying around.
    • 200 gig WD HDD
    • CD Burner
    • USB 2.0 PCI card
    • SoundBlaster external USB soundcard
Apearence: Its going into a broken reciever and then placed into my home theater cabinet. No monitor keyboard or mouse needed. MAYBE a Matrix Orbital LCD to display where there is the stock LCD. Want to make it look like it fits in with rest of the equipment.
Plans for Expansion: ATLEAST a terrabyte of HDD JUST for music.

Will be getting parts in the next few weeks so pictures wont be for a bit but I thought I would put it out there to talk a bit first.

Well in actuality, I DO own alot of CDs and music. I own an BOATLOAD of records (those vinyl disks) that I am legally allowed to download copies of for I own the rights to those songs. ANYWAYS, I am a huge Deadhead to boot and those concerts are shared - legally - on the net and that takes up massive room as well.

And I like other digital music.....

You still have vinyls? Oh' boy o' boy. One thing about vinyl records: Never transfer them digitally to pc, cause you will loose the original sound and the music will sound too plain. Anyways a TB is much, so how are you going to do it? 1x LaCie BigDisk or are you going to buy few 250GB HDD's?
