I love it!
Wow, good job. When I get my hands on an iPod for cheap I'm totally doing this.
I wish I had those skills... mine would come out completely different
If one had access to a CNC mill, working to a tolerance of just 2mm thick would be easy enough. But doing this BY HAND with a Dremel just beggars belief!
Nice photo work on the title banner
If done on a CNC...it would no longer be special.
thats stunning!!!!..... congrats!, i don like wood, but... come on!, thats just to well done!, you rock! .
i dont want to soud st**id but that will void warranty right?... i allways wanted to mod mi own, just painting it into black, chrome and black will do for me, and as my sig says... who whants stinky wharranty .
Actually, if it wasn't for the double-sided tape on the Click Wheel, this would be a totally reversible mod, wouldn't it Zap? You could just pop off the cover and use the original again.
Thanks - it's actually your really nice close-up photo that makes it look good. All I did was the funky wood-texture text. Seemed an obvious thing to do, and I found a tutorial via Google easily enough.
amazing work, I never thought it was possible to hand-reproduce a part like that. Incredible, really incredible.
I'm amazed that you cam make a chunk of wood fit so well and seamlessly with the rest of the ipod.
btw, your on the front page of slashdot
that is simply amazing!
I have one question, though. How did you manage to munt it on the ipod itself? i can see that you haven't made those little holes for the screws.
Looks nice I guess. Not sure why everyone is going crazy over it, its just a peice of carved wood that was fit very meticulously. Sorry to be a buzzkill, just think ive already seen better iMods (trademark pending ) than that.
Zap does it again... awesome.
That done by hand is EXTREMELY intracate work, nigh impossible!
You make like the look of other iP*d mods but it's not "just a peice of carved wood that was fit very meticulously"
SWEET WORK ZAP!
Very nicely done there Zap, finally makes an ipod unique
Ahh how'd i miss this, superb work their Zap, as always!!!
was hoping to read the log but seems you've been /. ed
looks superb, I'd love something similar to that for my iPod mini
Also getting some love on fark.com
Another great project by zap wizard
Damn that is nice!
And made by hand too
I have to say it's damn good work but I wouldn't say it looks supurb. I think it would look much better if you left the wood with a matt finish. The glossyness just makes it look fake and unappealing.
