Erm? Why? Whats wrong with the existing 295?? Surely the R&D money used in this could go on the GTX300 series...

hehe amusing though: double SLi fingers to allow this "new" 295 to be used in Tri-SLi....

It could, but it doesn't take that much money to change the labels on the 2xx-series to have a 3 in front instead ;)

"although Expreview claims that the price of the GTX 295 won’t change with the introduction of the new PCB." :miffed:

Will it be slimmer? I guess that would help cooling it better in SLI setups...

I guess it is also possible that it will be easier/cheaper to produce if it's one PCB

I'm pretty sure they'll be different groups working on the gpu part to the pcd design. Also this could be a by product of trying out dual gpus on a single card that will be adopted by the 3xx series and so will be a good way to make a lower risk smaller step implementation.

I'm all for cheaper production costs as that'll allow further price drops in the future. It'll also help ensure that nVidia survive the recession which is a good thing.

Flash of product inspiration, a dual gpu pcb, does that mean Nvidia could produce a Quad gpu card?
Maybe they could call it the GTX 295 STFU:baby:

I was thinking this was the only reason they are shifting it to a single pcb. I guess not, they just want more bucks from the 295 I guess

Nvidia launches quad-gpu card, cue hundreds of forums telling people that you'll need a 1500W PSU to run it!

Finally!! I always wondered why do they use the two PCB design
which is harder to cool and when watercooling it you have holes in your card.

Meh, the GTX295 is irrelevant. NVIDIA will produce another 5,000-10,000 or so units and then it will go the way of the Dodo, just like the original 295 and the 9800GX2 before it.

I wonder how many 4870X2s ATI has sold?

If I didn't turn blind without noticing it this is a 3D-render not a photo.

WOW nVidia FINALLY decides to get smart and realize how stupid a dual pcb design really is, who knows I never took nVidia as a company that really learns from their mistakes.

How many AMD fan-persons would cry if 3 of these went against 3 4870-X2's? :hehe: . Come on, that's fair isnt? 6 GPU's against 6 GPU's. :p

Anyways, a single PCB would make Thermalright able to make a HR-03 "GX2" quicker.:dremel:

I'm thinking that as these would be single slot once water cooled putting a pair of them on an i7 Asus Rampage II Gene in a Sugo SG03 with a tv tuner and X-FI titanium..
That would be a mean Lan rig or home theatre PC..
