...So I just got a call from "Roger" at "Azure PC Solutions" to tell me there was something wrong with my computer. It may or may not be a virus/malware, and it may or may not affect other computers - he can't tell me the name of it, but on their server there is a red warning light flashing for my IP address. As curiousity killed *this* cat I bit - so asked him for my IP address - which apparently is 192.168.1.3 ...To prove to me that he was not just a random idiot/scammer after I suggested he had no details and was talking vague enough for the situation to apply to anyone - he got me to check my events log (talking me through step by step how to open computer management) to see if there were any "Yellow Warnings" or "Red Errors" which was proof that there was something wrong with my computer. At this stage I tried to make a joke - and said Yes, it's called Windows (which is apparently not funny!) ...Anyway - he then wanted me to loginto "logmeinrescue.com" which as far as I understand is essentially remote desktop via the WWW. Oh - and when I asked him how he got our unlisted phone number - he said that they were calling anyone with a "red warning light" on their server! ...Has anyone else had the delight of shooting the breeze with Roger, or Sam (his suprevisor - apparently I warranted talking to the boss man after I asked him what he wanted to sell me continously until he passed me of to his supervisor)?? http://whois.domaintools.com/azurepcsolutions.com Only registered in February this year - so I guess its "new"!
