I've just ordered a few bits from dabs ( including an apple pro key board  ), but the 24x yamaha writer is ' awaiting stock '. does anyone have any experiences with dabs, and possibly know how long it may take to get that particular writer in? thx

IT can take a while - my Maxtor HDD was awaiting stock but it came in within 3 days and I had it all in a week. Returning stuff can be a bit of a hassle though, they'd rather send stuff to be repaired rather than swap it, but if you shout at them enough they send you a shiny new one :).

If it's awaiting stock, it's down to the manufacturer and suppliers, rather than Dabs. Dabs will send it as soon as they've got it. I've generally found them to be very good, and I've had two RMAs with them.

Dabs are usually cheap & fast, but any problems, they rarely answer emails and you can wait ages on the phone.

But you can vent your frustration at uk.comp.vendors along with all the others.
