    Hi all,

Been a long time since i have been on the forums, but i have a problem.

I can play .mp3, wma, and wav files in media player fine. I have sound in games and movies, great. But i have no 'ding' when i move the volume control on the sound bar, no sound on you tube, and when i try to play the windows default sounds in 'sound', under control panel the .wav dont play. Yet open the same files in media player and they play fine!!!

    Any ideas?

I have updated to the latest drivers to no avail.

I am using the onboard sound from an Asus Maximus Extreme motherboard and am running Vista 64-bit addition.

    Cheers for any help.

    no go

    unfortunatly that didnt work either.

I have also attached another sound device, some usb headphones, and encounter the same problem. I am thinking its a problem with windows itself.

I've had a similar problem - I found that both the onboard SC and the blaster sound card was enabled which lead to some conflict, sorted it out via device manager...worth a try I guess. Oh, an when this kind of thing happens I can normally fix it with a reboot too...!

Unfortunatly still not solved. No help disabling any devices in device manager. Looked for a system restore point but all the old ones have gone now. Sure it is some sort of Vista problem that has occurred, tried to install vista over vista and doa repair but the disc i have says this option isnt available.
