I need help. I've searched the forums, the FAQ's, wiki's and crystal balls. I've a headache, I'm tired and my eyes are sore. I have learnt nothing. Take pity on a new and inexperienced worker who wants to build a case 'cos I'm overstretching myself.

Building, or about to try to build, a scratch built htpc. I'm after a clean smooth look so want to tap some holes. I've pretty much got the fact that I need M3 taps for PC cases but I'm being thrown by 6-32. I know it's the mobo screw size but as a Brit living in Germany I can only find 6-32 taps on US sites. Is there an equivelant in the metric(?) etc. or will I have to order from there. Excuse me if it's that stupid a question you get a hernia but I'm to fragged to think and I'm hoping to get them tomorrow when I stock up on sandpaper and metal polish for extreme shininess.

    That is a word.

    ta in advance

You're not looking hard enough. I don't know about Germany, but they're available in the UK. You got relatives here who could order for you?

wow do I feel like an idiot.

I did say I was tired though. I'll order a set in the morgen. Many thanks for your help and I'll no doubt bother you again when I start playing with LED's and resistors and other black arts.

I have a couple suggestions that would help in the future questions
1.) Change the title of your help questions to include a country request like - Where to get taps and dies in Germany?
Catches the eye quicker and we have a lot of members from Germany.

2.) Look through some of the threads for members from Germany and PM them. If they have a lot of posts they are probably around frequently. Most community members are quite helpful.
For this one PM theAlien - Alan is in Germany and currently working up a project. He'll help

Thanks both of you for the help. John -great tip and I'll do that. I'm ordering acrylic and the like from a UK supplier at the minute as I haven't found any here for anywhere near the same prices so he may know of better suppliers etc. And I've slept now so all is clear!

I `ve lived in germany for some time and my first guess would have been Bauhaus. Bought a tap set there years ago and it had also imperial size taps in it. The big chains like Bauhaus and Baufuchs should have stuff like that or atleast the possibillity to order them.
Where about in germany are you?

    edit: Have a look here

I'm living near Dusseldorf. We've a Praktiker and a Hornbach and that's near enough it (it's pretty rural). I've a couple of smaller shops in mind after an online recce so it's shopping today! I', after sandpaper, files and taps. I guarantee I'll buy a bandsaw. I'm impulsive.

On a side note, i'm from the states and just wish they would get rid of this 6-32 standard. This is why I love Lian-Li cases. From my experiance everything is metric.

Believe me though, try finding anything metric here and you will know frusteration. No hardware store in town carries a set of metric drill bits. I know, i've been to every one of them.
