"There's an artist, Nathalia Edenmont, who kills cats, mice, doves, RABBITS, and other animals, mutilates their bodies, and then takes their photographs. She's on exhibit, among other places, at the Wetterling Gallery in Sweden. She has taken the top halves of five white mice and made them into finger puppets. She beat a cat to death with a stick. And this is called art. This is not only inhumane, but morally reprehensible." http://www.wetterlinggallery.com/archive/nathalia/nathalia_main.htm
Now, that sounds really sick and twisted and all that, but the problem is, I really like all the work on display on the page.
Erm, all the animals were put down in the most humane way possible, lethal injection I assume, it says that in the art galleries message thing...so don't know where you got that 'beat the cat to death' balls from.. Tbh that art is really good, and as the writing that goes with it says...it shows the paradox's in western culture, you will happily eat meat/wear leather, but when you see a decapitated dead bunny in a potrait you cry out 'PETA'...? - M@
Saw her work in Bizarre quite a while back - I rather like it. Please don't let anybody go all Daily Mail on this thread... *n
I think the pictures are very good however i do hear little voices in my head telling me i should be appalled at this. I suppose what got me was the cat as i love the things and i do wonder what peoples reaction would be if a dog was shown. I would guess more people would feel slightly more uneasy. Anyway to be a recognised artist now you need to do something outrageous and thats sure as hell gonna get her noticed (and probably firebombed by some fanatical animal lover) but that'll be another thread.
I thought there couldn't be anything nastier (sp?) than the virgin mary covered in $ hit, but i was wrong.
