Agreed, but at current it is kinda a self forfilling prophecy! Often there are only 2-3 mediums in high tier battles meaning they're often the first targetted (lower armour and HP but can still hurt others), kinda making them useless so promotes camping. This makes people want heavies even more!

If people knew that heavies were limited, people would be more inclined to choose other types.

I've been on several teams where we outnumbered the opposition heavies 3:2 and still got wiped as they all insisted on a rambo run up the same flank and got nuked by TDs and SPGs. I'm also finding that I have to prioritise the medium tanks over heavies more often as my team's heavies are so focussed on shooting at the other side that they ignore the smaller tanks - big mistake, as Lance pointed out.

You can only get arty pillaged or counter batteried so many times and retain an even temper.

Most heavy drivers seem to be idiots though. I've played many games where I've taken on T8/9 heavies in a T8 heavy and won several 1v1s in a round. The numbers arent the problem, its the players. Any semi-organised team will rule the match, regardless of team makeup. A poor heavy driver (say E-75) is also much easier to kill than a poor medium driver (say T-54) because they're so much easier for everything to hit.

Enemy side: 105 tier points total

Nice work. With three Lowes on your side I'd have generally said "Oh aye? Wallet warriors!" and dismissed them as a serious threat (but still shelled the **** out of them on principle :D)

Feel my cowardly big gun you gimboids! (arty is for cold, calculating cowards - don't get seen, hurt LOTS! Rage not an option as it would be like a tortoise on PCP - eventually deadly but it takes us a wee while to get to the "gnawing your leg off" position. This is assuming that we don't get flipped on our backs first).

Good win and I see that your team kept two out of three arty alive with a kill apiece no less! Nice defense as it appears that no one pillaged your back line.

What arty do you use most then, what's your favourite? I'm only following the Russian tree, so I've no idea how any other arty's perform. Just got the SU-5, it's not bad but I just got the 152mm mortar for it and it only holds 15 rounds... :waah:

I quite enjoyed the SU-5, I had a play with that in Beta, ammo restrictions are a bit sucky though. One thing I can suggest is to avoid the US line of TD's unless you have a massive XP reserve to ***** getting past the M7... The XP net is huge and there's literally 0 splash damage from the top gun... :(

Wespe/Hummel was good fun, didn't keep them for too long though.

I have an SU-5, M7 Priest and Hummel at the moment. The German tree is definitely my favourite as it seems to have the best balance of damage, accuracy and ammo. Russian isn't bad IMO (the SU-26 is definitely the most fun by a long way) but I loathe the US SPGs - massive amounts of ammo, high refire rate but you may as well use a pea shooter as they do minimal damage and the accuracy is diabolical.

The German tree so far seems to have high accuracy, high damage and acceptable refire rates. I only have 16 rounds with my Hummel though so feel your pain! It's also 1k per shot so resupply if I use the whole lot is a little pricey compared to the Grille I was driving before. The other bit about the German arty is the range - my Grille was 75% of the largest maps, the Wespe before it was 100% and the Hummel is about 90%. Very important for being a successful, sneaky and above all live coward :p

EDIT: PQuiff, I'm using that one and it's sweet as. I have it set to give me a flat number for health as well rather than a percentage so I can guesstimate how much I'll knock off with each shot and how likely I am to get a kill.

Now that's interesting since i find that the German arty line has the phenomenal range and reasonable accuracy but the reload times are abysmal. The US artys have, at least i had, astonishing accuracy but appalling damage and range and the Russians have a lovely blend of range, damage, accuracy and rate of fire couple with easily the best traverse/turn speeds (particularly the SU-26 with a 360 turret. Try turning and rotating the turret :D awesome)

It is really good how different people can find things different in the game.

Hmm, definitely interesting. I find that the target circle on the US SPGs is small but the shots rarely hit the centre. That, the pathetic damage and no splash damage makes them hell for me to play.

The traverse is definitely better on the Russian SPGs but the balance point for me is definitely the German ones. The damage is excellent, as is the range. Accuracy is OK, aim time acceptable and any lack there is made up for by the splash damage which is immense! The reload is slow but it forces you to pick your shots and conserve ammo - 16 shots with a fast reload is just asking for trouble. Then again, I did stick a gun laying drive and rammer on my Hummel and the crew are all 100% so that makes quite a difference. Reload is still a good 12 seconds though.

12 seconds is nothing! My Su-14 fires roughly every 45! :(

Yeah, saw it last night and thought I've got to have that. Although I went down the A-20 route, so it's kind of annoying, I now need to work my way through the T-46 and the T-50 before I can get my hands on the T-50-2... :sigh: Would be nice if you could try out a tank first, I may not even like the feel of the T-50-2...
