In my current mod I was planning on having a laser beam inside a gas filled container, that you could see through the top of the PC. Lets just say, it was a bit too ambitious. But now, I need to fill the hole that I cut with something. I was thinking of an aluminum-backed engraving on a piece of plexi, since I had already cut plexi for the hole. I've been trying to come up with a good design or a way to replicate my original idea, but they would not look very good unless they were the real thing. I thought of doing this image:

^ my original design for the top, the laser box is the focal point, situated in the center. That is what I will be replacing.

Since that symbol is relavent to my theme (electicity and computer hardware) it wouldn't look out of place. I was going to light it up using red LEDs but now I think that may not look very good. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what what colour or what symbol/design I should do?

    *EDIT*

revision to the symbol. I think it looks better with bigger caps lettering.

I agree with the red not looking so good with the yellow but you could always cut alot of thunderbolts into the side of your case and back it with some yellow cathodes but im not sure as to how it'd fit into your theme

Try to keep the question pretty obvious and straightforward please! I had to read it several times before I got what question your asking (at least i think i got it) hopefully you'll get better help as I really am not a good person to ask >_>

Yes, sorry. I have a tendency to do that. I wasn't planning on using a mix of yellow and red, I was going to use either yellow or red. I just couldn't figure out what would go best with green. Red and green are complimentary colours, but its too... christmas. I personally don't like that colour combination all that much. Maybe I will try doing it with red, and if it looks bad I'll swap the LEDs for yellow or maybe even blue. Experiment a bit with it.

well if you used red on like the top and possibly yellow cathodes on the side and covering the leds in a way they dont mix with the yellow could work unless your thinking of doing the whole window mod thing which....is pretty "popular" nowadays

I'm confused about what your saying. I am only planning on using one colour, because multiple ones would look rather strange. What do you mean by "the whole window mod thing"?

Lighting globe... A plasma ball? The trouble with those are they are round, and circular, so they won't fill a rectangular flat hole very well. Neither would a luminglass pane, because its circular too. Also, I don't have much room underneath the hole, due to the CD drive.

Good idea, but being vertical facing and facing portrait-style, it would not be good for anything than displaying some sort of lights. Also, the viewing angle would make it look wierd from any position other than directly above.

Why not ue the PSone LCD idea.

    BUT

Have some kind of a controller switch that lifts it up automatically when windows is logging in? Giving you some extra eyecandy

Hmm, sounds like a lot of crazy software and hardware with servo motors.

I'll have to put my case back together and check out how things line up, see if its possible for a CD ROM window mod. I just need to find my air duster, my mom used my case chassis as a saw horse while she was cutting some wood, and now its all covered in sawdust. "I thought it was just another one of those things you leave lying around. I didn't know it mattered." Sure you didn't. Luckily she had it flipped over and only scarred up the bottom.
