    Well, I'd like your opinions guys, which do you think is the best?

    A Windows 2000 Server webspace or a Unix Server webspace?

    Wndows 2000 -
    Or Unix -
    I'm thinking the Windows 2000 server, because it still has CGI and Perl for scripts, but also includes ODCB database and ASP which I'm going to try learning! Because I think that HTML is reaching its limit...

    Are those prices any good? I know someone who uses that company and they say the service is excellent. Can you suggest anyone for hosting?

    Cheers Guys

    go Unix.

    you dont need ASP when you have perl, cgi, php and mysql.. ASP is complete rubish compared to perl and php.

    Yeah I learned both ASP and PHP and I found php way more flexible. Databases with mySQL are much simpler aswell. What I don't get is why they don't include mySQL and PHP on the Win2k system... I've never used unix so I don't know exactly what the differences would be.. other than case sensitive file names :rolleyes:.

    I don't see a cPanel listed with the 2K service, either, which you should look for as standard.

    Windows == poop
    UNIX != poop
    UNIX > Windows

    if(you == sane) {
    chooseUNIX();
    }
    else {
    exit(1);
    }

    Also, windows is supposed to be cheaper, because at the end of the day, it takes less time and effort for your average computer user to get aquainted with the nuances of a Windoze server then it does to learn how to set one up with *nix.

    As a cheap as chips hosting option that's set up properly (mySQL and PHP are not that big a headache to install) you can't falt win2K.

    But for a 'serious' hosting account, *nix a|| teh weh, babeh :D

    Haddy's right, of course. Anything involving the word 'unlimited' when it comes to web hosting involves small print. Sometimes that small print states that if you exceed an amount they have defined as 'unlimited' they can suspend your account 'to prevent the negative effect your account is having on other customers'.

    Or something.

    I got one of the issues sorted out, the bandwidth limit is 1500MB a calendar month.

    Monolith, you do web hosting don't you? Are your prices on the Nox-Ordo website? (It's blocked in work under games category???) drop me a line with prices if you get time, or if they are on the site, I'll check at home tonight :)
