Its probably to do with the Uni connection... thats what I am guessing, cos there was some things that I used to want to do on the net last year, including a poll type thing on a different forum, and I couldnt vote! I guess its something to do with the JANET routers or even the Uni routers. Don't quote me on the router stuff, but I am nearly 100% sure that its to do with the JANET connection.

As for my OS's, I've got Win XP Pro, and Win 2000 Pro on my main rig, Win 2000 Pro on my laptop, the rig at home has Win Me <pukes> (I'm upgrading that one to 2000 when I get home tho :D ) and then I've got a Linux box that runs as a firewall :D

www.scan.co.uk were very naughtily selling the OEM versions of XP without the need for buying any hardware a while ago, dunno if they still are... other than that student license? Not sure if there is one yet??

    There isnt one yet :D

I doubt there will be until at least SP1 comes out.... When it does come out, I guess it will be at about £60 for the full version of XP Pro (taking into account the relative cost of Win 2k on Full Price and Student Licence)

Explanation :D : Mrs Spencer, an IT teacher at our school, said (while we were studying operating systems) 'All the recent OS's are very unstable and have lots of problems with everything, and I dont need all the latest gadgets (?) and mutimedia things, so I always use Windows 95 OSR 2...its the best overall'

Has she not heard of Windows 98???!!
