    HAHAHA, that last one is about right! Very funny! I highly doubt anyone would guess it's name but you're welcome to guess!! The name comes about from my personal experience in the last two years. I'll make you guys read thru the reason before I tell the name..HAHA..


    Some will get it, some will not...;)

    OH GOD...

    I have the new case out, just about ready to go...

    I pull the cdrw out of the old case to put in the new case and get measurements for the eject button. I set it down by the old drive I've been using, the one with the blue faceplate in all the pics I've posted, and I see it's an AOPEN drive, just like the cdrw.. wow, they have the same casing..

    So I think, here's my chance to do the windowed drive after all! If I mess it up I still have an extra top I can use...

    I cut it out and here's a pic of it in the middle of filing..big window is to see the cdrom of course and the small window will have the same style text like the rheobus/vu meter..:)..

    They need to list MODDING as a serious problem. I can't even get the dam case put together because I keep stopping to mod ****...


    I need a 1-800 number...I need help!

    Posting the webcam pics I can do, it's the bigger high rez pics that I'll send to you ok? Or until my bandwidth runs out..:)

    Here are some new pics. I have the day off today so I hope to get alot done!


    Back shot. These drives are longer than my DVD drive, there's a space at the back that is empty, so I cut a small section out of the cdrom trya so I can have LEDS light up the text that will be seen thru the small window. I didn't realize when I was cuttin' that most of the inside will show!!

    I had viynl dyed the tray some time back but never got the very back edge of it.. I'll remove it once more and cover it all..

    Next step is some lighting. I have two white LEDS and several blue left..since I want the text lit well enough to see thru the grey acrylic on the top I will probably go with two white and two blue... I'll post updates when I get that done:)

    On a little tangent, is there a trick to remove the cd tray? I painted my drive bezels but was having a tough time removing the tray.

    I seem to do it all the time by accident, just eject the tray and give it a good whack to the side...

    Neither I nor BiT-Tech are liable to any damage you may cause :worried:

    There's a little clip inside there. Just press it down with a screw driver, and you can pull the tray out. Then just slot it in when finished.

    It came out easily. Just make sure you slide it back in the "slot" thingy so it will open and close easily...lol...


    It's(CDRW window, not the case!) done! Problem is the case name is now lit up on the drive!...guess I could block it out! HAHA

    I want opinions on it, so I'll put up some pics tonight...hot glue is drying up..(holding the LEDs in the back)


    Yo-DUH_87, I will send the pics to you, you'll be the first to know the name! HAHA..thanks for hosting the pics for me, very kind of you!

    Send the urls back and post a response ok? Then I'll throw up the pics!

    CDRW Window gonna look good! You know what, someone should start a Modders' Anonymous. We could go get some counciling on how to walk past a dremel tool without getting the "twitches" :D ~Davy
